What I fear is that NK would try to go across DMZ and grab small real-estate of marginal strategic value. It should demand full-scale retaliation. However, NK, as usual, give SK and U.S. two stark choices: either accept the situation or face full-scale war which would result in hundreds of thousands of casualties, if not millions. They could calculate that the full-retaliation from their adversaries may wipe NK out on the map but it would be so costly to SK and US that they would hesitate and lose the window of opportunity. Then NK consolidate their occupation and declare stunning victory against their nemeses. Commie sympathizers in SK first ask caution and prudence, forcing the gov to lose an window of opportunity for retaliation, and then blame the gov for being needlessly confrontational against NK and incompetent in handling the crisis.

I can see the whole script like a panorama.

Yes. With people like Obama and company around, I can definitely see that happening.

I’d set up a system where one guy gets to punch a button and all of the important communist party, military headquarters, commie media and favorite palaces of the Kims all get wiped out as soon as they cross the DMZ.

I’d even let them know this was set up.

If NK knows that any response by SK to their aggression will be limited and wimpy they are more likely to attack. The worst thing that could happen to NK leadership is to lose face.

Making sure some big, important buildings and landmarks go down (Pyongyang and other cities) if SK is attacked would have a psychological effect that NK cannot handle. It might even cause North Koreans to resist immediately afterwards.

If your scenario happens the “good guys” in SK need to make a stink. They need a military that can stop and repel attacks and then strike back, deeply and in ways to cause real harm to the NK government.

The SK army, air force and navy all have the capability to make any attack on their country a devastating blow to the NK government pysche. All NK has is their propaganda, and their “prosperous new year” crap will make the blow even worse.

BTW- Taking out the radio jammers and NK radio stations and broadcasting on those frequencies will also make a big impact. South Korea’s forces are large enough to make all of this a small part of their response if attacked. It is something they SHOULD be prepared to do.

Take it the NorK government if they attack. Show the people of NK that their government is not nearly as strong as it pretends. Hit them where it hurts. Taking out a few key bridges and stuff would cripple their already weak economy.

I don’t think NK’s government could survive losing face to its serfs like this.

Taking out a few artillery sites does NOTHING, saying mean things at the UN is meaningless, griping to the Chinese Ambassador is a joke.
