I got hit for over $17k on a Sears Gold VISA card last year, traced to Russian purchases, and Sears ate all of the fraud. I’d had that Sears account for many, many yrs.

The Sears’ rep told me that they have 2,500 people just working on CC fraud cases/intel, within the company and that’s why the raised interest rates on cc/cash purchases and monthly balance fees. They canceled card, issued a new account and card.

After it was resolved, I paid it off, closed the card and get my local bank’s CC. No problems yet. Fingers crossed, but it’s going to happen again sometime, the odds are. Just too much CC money out there for thieves

I’ve only got a mid four-figure limit on my card and pay any charges off each month. A few months ago the company doubled the limit. Had ‘em put it back down as I had no need for that much, as well as the risk of something like this happening.
