Two years ago I got in an argument with Master Card. Someone charged $16000 to my card to buy a Suzuki motorcycle in Brisbane, Australia.
here’s the zinger. MasterCard had just sent me a new card the week before. The card had a new account number on it, a new 3-digit security code and, the best part, I had not activated the card yet. It took me 3 months of arguing with them before they took off the charges and almost a year before they fixed the currency exchange fees.

Why would Master Card be so horsey about removing a charge that was clearly not conducted by you? (Were you in Australia at the time?) I’d have had to close my account with them once things were straightened out.
