Earth Hour observed all over the world. (I'm turning on every light)

What does it look like when the world turns out all the lights? A glimpse will be offered today when millions of participants all over the globe -- from Egypt's Tahrir Square to Washington D.C.'s National Cathedral -- are expected to turn their lights off for an hour in honor of Earth Hour. Sydney's symbolic Opera House and Harbor Bridge were a couple of the first places to go dark, as Australians took part in the global effort to raise awareness over climate change and show the need for sustainability. The event takes place worldwide on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. local time, during which time people are encouraged to turn off their lights for 60 minutes. ~snip

The organization holds the event annually on the last weekend in March because it's about "the time of the spring and fall equinoxes in the northern and southern hemispheres respectively. This allows for near coincidental sunset times in both hemispheres, thereby ensuring the greatest visual impact for a global 'lights out' event," says the WWF Web site. In the United States, five states are participating — Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Montana and New Hampshire -- and almost 60 cities and towns not to mention many more landmarks, buildings, colleges, businesses, and organizations. The rest of the world is acting in a similar fashion. New Zealand got a two-hour head start of Australia, as lights were turned off at Sky Tower in Auckland and parliament buildings in Wellington. Several buildings along Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong participated, including the International Finance Centre, ... ~snip

Libya, Algeria, Bhutan and French Guinea. "Earth Hour 2012 is a celebration of people power," WWF official Dermot O'Gorman told reporters, including AP, hours before the event in Sydney. "(It's) the world's largest mass event in support of the planet."

What time will I be turning on the Fender amp, playing my guitar through a digitech RP200 effects box running through my Peavey Mixer (with phantom power) to go with the Senheiser mic? The setup uses a lot of power! The article didn’t say. Oh, due to the power drain caused by all the equip, I also use a pre amp for additional phantom power. When I get cooking the neighborhood lights flicker..

I'm going to put my humidifier and dehumidifier in the same room and let them fight it out.

>>That is why the day was set, not by coincidence, on the birthday of Karl Marx.

April 22 is Lenin’s birthday.

Actually it’s not Marx’s birthday. Unfortunately his is right before my mother’s (that oughta thrill her) in May. And apparently, some local originators started with the March equinox (they love pagan dates), then somehow we ended up with a month later.

“Just do what you would do if you hadn’t read about this.”

That just looks like you are just ignorant of the movement’s plans.

No. It just looks like I use energy to better my life. I do not waste it and I do not compromise my quality of life to conserve it.

“Earth Hour” was LAST YEARS’s Current Truth, this year’s current truth is LYNCHING a Hispanic Guy with a Jewish-sounding last name, so that blacks will be angered enough to show up and vote for OBAMA in 2006.

Besides, it might remind the sheeple of the outrageously expensive Obama failures like Solyndra, and THINK!.

As I've done for many years now, I'm turning on EVERY light in the house @ 8:30 tonight. And doing a load of laundry.

As I've done for many years now, I turn off EVERY light in the house @9:00 pm. Because I go to bed.

BFD.

I have 7 TVs all hooked up to Uverse. Four refrigerators/freezers, and 5 or 6 computers. I don’t know, I lost count. I got hammered in the garage workshop watching some NCAA basketball and texting my college friends. I don’t care. Yeah, I can burn the coal tonight. The moderators won’t let me say what I think of these enviro-nazis.

I live in a 'dark area' on the map - I love it. I can see all the stars.

I shaved $30 a month off my electric bill - by my own methods - and I will NEVER have a government 'screw-you' mercury bomb in my lights. I save money to save money, not because the greenies, who have more light bulbs in their kitchens that I have in my whole house dictate to us.

Tonight, my house, and friends and neighbors will be lit like Christmas trees - and put a one night lit-up spot on the map in our area.

I have several, double 300-watt shop lights on stands. I’ll bring them out on the driveway and point them upward.

Hey, that's what I do! Except mine are in the backyard of the house, where busy roads and airplane flight paths can see them better. Plus every light goes on in the house.
