Integration pioneer at Sanford rally laments, 'shame we have to do this again'

SANFORD -- Rosetta Williams, one of six girls who were the first to integrate Seminole High School in 1965, thought the world had come further.

Yet 47 years later, Williams left her Deltona home on Saturday morning to rally for justice, not only for Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old shot and killed in Sanford, but for her own grandchildren and others.

"We did this when we were young," Williams said. "It's a shame we have to do this again in 2012."

Williams was one of more than 140 Volusia and Flagler area residents who participated in a march and rally in Sanford, which drew an estimated 1,200 people. Among the group were 54 Bethune-Cookman University students and 75 Flagler County residents. The march was organized by the Florida chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

State and national NAACP leaders, accompanied by Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, led the march to the Sanford Police Department from a local school that served black students during the segregation era. The march ended with a nearly two-hour rally.

"We live in the middle of an American paradox," Sharpton told the crowd. "We can put a black man in the White House but we cannot walk a black child through a gated neighborhood. We are not selling out, bowing out or backing down until there is justice for Trayvon."

What is the outrage all about?

Rights of gangbanger thugs to walk around anywhere, anytime, doing whatever they want...such as drug deals, driveby shootings, pimping da ho, beating up innocents...you name it. How dare you question their rights to engage in such behavior? It's a matter of justice.

Why do blacks keep joining Islam? Islam enslaved and sold them in the first place. Islam is enslaving and selling them yet today. The Democrats did not want blacks to vote. Today blacks are democrats and are joining mosques. Go figure!

“Are these people for real?????”

Not to most Americans they’re not; “white fatigue” has replaced “white guilt” as someone pointed out on another thread.

“Why do blacks keep joining Islam?”

Malcolm X actually mellowed on his racial rants, and turned his focus to blacks harming blacks, after going to Mecca and realizing that many Muslims were white - not “Arabs”, but “white” (Turks, Bosnians, Albanians, etc.).

His new focus cost him his life.

White Americans already did it once, Mrs. Williams.
It's time for Black Americans to take off their racist blinders and acknowledge it.

Truth will set your free, at last.

Rosetta is too stupid to see the difference between her and Martin. Rosetta took part in a movement to allow black children to attend schools that excluded them. A lot of "white" people assisted in that movement.

So tell me Rosetta, just exactly what do you mean by saying we "have to do this again"? Martin was suspended from school. He had been caught on camera writing graffiti on the walls. He had a flat head screwdriver on him. He had an empty baggie of marijuana on him. Is this what you fought for?

If Rosetta were to listen to Bill Cosby she would hear that his heart breaks about what is happening in the black community. And he isn't blaming white people.

It’s all part of “the big lie” strategy!!!!
PLEASE, YAHOO “The Big Lie” and how it is used by the left.

Example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Lie
snippets .... “Usage in Hitler’s psychological profile

His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.”

ANOTHER: “So this is how the Big Lie works. You begin with a hypothesis that has a certain surface plausibility. You find an ally whose background suggests that he’s an “expert”; out of thin air, he devises “data.” You write articles in sympathetic publications, repeating the data endlessly; in time, some of these publications make your cause their own. Like-minded congressmen pick up your mantra and invite you to testify at hearings.”A MUST READ.... COMPLETE ARTICLE @ http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/24/opinion/nocera-the-big-lie.html

It has actually given an opportunity. An opportunity for whitey to face the truth.

Amen, riri

(pardon a paste job from a different thread ?)

If you go back to the early FR threads on this incident you will find a whole raft of Freepers of whom you can ask that question

Yup, and a big amen !

Indicative of there yet being a whole big bunch of white guilt to flush from the caucasian body politic.

The Arabic word for a black person translates as ‘’slave’’. Oddly enough it would appear the Democrats translate it the same way.

According to a survey done a few years ago by The Mount Vernon Assn. fully 36% of college students had absolutely no idea when The Revolutionary War, The Civil War,WW1,WW2, Korea or The Vietnam War began, ended or for what reasons these wars were fought. You can't be ''condemned to relive the past'' if you have no clue when it was.
