Minister Malik Shabazz made headlines when he made this impassioned remark at a Detroit financial review meeting on Monday: "This is white supremacy, and we will fight you. Before you can take over our city, we will burn it down first." Shabazz is upset that Governor Rick Snyder will appoint an emergency manager to run the city of Detroit if it cannot find a way to restructure the budget.

My little town’s only black resident says his father closed up shop in 67 and moved the family to Jackson when there were still factory jobs there.

It looks like the Detroit experiment is near conclusion. the blacks got their town, ran it , ran it into the ground and now all that is left is interpretation of what really happened and why. You would think the black people might grasp the reasons and deal with them.

I'm just glad I'm not off the Chicago L trains and have a buffer zone with the hoods. Ann Arbor will just cry. If it hits the fan in Ypsi, they'll go to Ann Arbor and cause trouble, not to the farms and woods northwest which are the 'redneck' parts.

I think all manufacturing cities are a thing of the past. Especially the “car towns”. When we started importing Datsuns it was just a matter of time.
With that said, smart city leaders immediately started looking for a way to go in a different direction instead of counting on the unions forcing the government to give them money to save them.
