Computer issues is to put it mildly!
Dell informed me that I have to go get an extra hard drive to back up my data, then they will install a whole new Windows, unless I am willing to lose everything.
I sure wish I would have stored the same documents on this computer when I was thinking about it.
But for my documents, I am thinking about just letting it all go.
Severe T-storm warnings are in effect here until 10:00PM, but I'm so mad, I'm going to Walmart to see about a hard drive. Office Max is next door. I hope one of the stores knows what the heck I need and it had better be cheap or I'll take the option of losing everything. Sheesh.
I'll never get the same Dell technician back on the phone....he spoke without the accent. I understood him perfectly.

If I understand correctly, your Windows is goofed up and needs to be wiped and reinstalled and the 2nd hard drive is to store info to save it. I think Windows has been messed up for sometime and that's why you need to reboot so often.

Just reading your ‘puter mess .. was it a lightning strike wipeout or virus crash?
Fiddling, cursing, growling these past couple of days while trying, eliminating, uninstalling, reinstalling, switching browsers, restarting repeatedly, reloading repeatedly, etc .. I think my issues (crossing fingers and toes) is Firefox.
Every time they do an update, it messes things up .. only this time it totally locked everything. Did it with my other ‘puter before son gave me this one last week that’s newer.
At least that’s what I think looks like my problem.
I finally went to an oldapps firefox site and downloaded an older version. Knock wood, it’s been working this am with no freezing and “high cpu usage” warning flags, but I know they’ll be signaling me to update, repeatedly. I’ll just keep uninstalling it. It uses HUGE amounts of disk space, but I’ve repeatedly tried Opera and IE this week, and this old version is giving me the most ease and safety of use so far.
Son gave me an external hard drive with huge storage which
is always plugged into my old ‘puter and the newer one into
which to transfer and move data and then I can upload them
to the newer computer .. when I figger out where. I’ve never had one before. Meanwhile, he explains it serves as a
data backup that’s always operating in the background. But
now, I have to access my files by a different and longer
route .. and build a new habit .. hahaha
It does make sense .. and O, hopefully you’re getting one or now have one, and you’ve salvaged your data.
