...and therefore has to rely on good writing and/or good acting instead of star hype if it wants to succeed. I've had better luck watching indie flicks than any major studio release in recent years. No explosions, no need for 3D glasses, but some pretty decent movies.

Agree... indies must rely on good writing and good acting. That’s the problem with a choice of Ashton Kutcher... the best writing in the world will not make up for his acting. Too bad.
