RUSH: Presidential politics on the Republican side, conventional wisdom: it's over. Romney has it in the bag, conventional wisdom. Because we're now at the blue state stage of the Republican primary, and it's only natural to conclude that Romney will win. Why is that? 'Cause they're more moderate, right. And liberal, right. And that helps us how? It doesn't? Oh. Okay. So, the conventional wisdom is it's over. Romney is gonna steal it all away now. Wisconsin, Maryland, Washington tomorrow. Gonna win it at all. Gonna have a great April because of the lineup of blue states this month. My question -- and this is just me -- I'm not trying to make a big deal out of something here. I'm just curious about tactics and strategy.
Why continue all of the destructive attacks on Santorum? There are a lot of them out there. Fox News, Commentary, National Review Online, I mean they're dumping on Santorum like this race is neck and neck, and I'm wondering why are they still dumping on Santorum if this is all over. Why all the negative columns and comments and ads? It's over, right? Where's the healing? Where is the unity? If it's over, where are the more positive ads and columns and comments about Romney's record and campaign? Instead we're getting that his nomination is inevitable; he's the only one that can beat Obama. And, by the way, Santorum sucks. Santorum is horrible. Where's the unity? When's all this negative stuff gonna stop if it's over?

Some of them need someone to dump on or they would be bored. I guess Obama tain’t enuff. Others are just ticked off because they don’t like their own process they put in place and just want Mitt to be spared the money and time earning his 1144 delegates.
I say nobody should get out unless they want to, and let the whole thing work it’s own way out.
The GOP Elites have to make it clear to everyone that unlike every other primary, Mr. #2 is NOT in line for the next Presidential opening. They’ll find a nice presentable progressive for that.
With the elites and party pukes picking the nominee again this continued attack is a message to conservatives: don’t ever think about influencing true party policy or moving up in the party. In other words know your place peasants and be content we let you in the party.
Yes, you completed my thought.
The race has been decided but the fight isn’t over. I liken it to a war. Why drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? The outcome was certain by the summer of 1945 but the Japanese were still fighting, which meant more bloodshed and casualties. Romney has won, but every additional week of primaries that Rick and Newt (who I voted for so dont call me a Romneybot) hang around, is just more GOP bloodshed, bad feelings, wasted money, negative adds that hurt our own people. All the while Obama rests, stays unmolested and raises money. The sooner this race becomes Romney vs Obama the better off we all are.
I wonder why is no one asking Ron Paul to drop out? He hasn’t won any states
WE THE PEOPLE!!!
That's why!
Because he sucks? If he had not screwed up the works, we could have had a good candidate: Newt Gingrich. Now we’re doomed. Thanks, wittle wicky.
“The race has been decided but the fight isnt over. I liken it to a war. Why drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? The outcome was certain by the summer of 1945..”
The outcome of the war was certain by late 1944 or even sooner. It was just an inevitable grinding down.
If Romney wins Wisconsin tomorrow, the tipping point will be apparent enough, an inevitable grinding down.
“The sooner this race becomes Romney vs Obama the better off we all are.”
People are getting annoyed at the GOP elites endorsing Romney, but that is all this is about, getting together to defeat Obama.
The flip-side is that there is no law or rule or demand that the other contenders have to step aside. If/when they cannot possibly win, then we should demand they withdraw, but before then, its still theoretically a race.
Santorum and Gingrich don’t think it’s over.
They think failing to coronate Romney as soon as possible hurts his chances against Obama.
It’s over and has been for a long time.
