Now that that many months have passed since Solyndra went bankrupt, Van Jones is hoping that the American public will forget the facts.
The spectacular failure of Solyndra was the result of a classic Obama style boondoggle. Solyndra’s failure had nothing to do with China, and everything to do atrocious incompetence and corrupt politics. The solar technology was employed by Solyndra was obsolescent. While most high tech start-ups have modest facilities to accommodate growth and flexibility, the Solyndra headquarters and production facility were palatial, which would have been a hindrance to growth and change .
The total investment in Solyndra was about $ 1.5 billion, which included about 1/2 billion coming from US taxpayer money (courtesy Obama), and another 1/2 billion from a big Obama contributor Kaiser Foundation.
The union labor construction costs were in excess of 100 million. I would guess that a lot of this union money will come back to Obama’s reelection fund.

This is actually a good sign. Jones is simply doing his master’s bidding - even though his “czarship” was taken from him in an a massive embarrasment for the White House, he is still very much an operative for Obama. When he has to go on a friendly program like Bill Maher’s where he won’t be challenged for grossly understating the taxpayer cost of this boondoggle, using agitprop phrases like “the Republicans’ war on technology” and calling them treasonous, it demonstrates how worried the White House is about the Solyndra scandal damaging Obama’s re-election bid in November.
More good news - I think most people acknowledge that Jones is a twit.
