NBC launches internal probe over edited 911 call in Trayvon Martin shooting

NBC has launched an internal probe after running an edited version of the 911 call from George Zimmerman -- the man who shot and killed Trayvon Martin -- that made Zimmerman sound racist.

"We have launched an internal investigation into the editorial process surrounding this particular story," the network said in a statement to the Washington Post on Monday.

NBC's "Today" show ran the edited audio of George Zimmerman's phone call to a police dispatcher in which Zimmerman says: "'This guy looks like he's up to no good … he looks black."

NBC is going to investigate itself? Big whoopie! Dateline NBC was caught fabricating the story of “exploding” GM pickup trucks’ fuel tanks. (Dateline NBC rigged them with pyrotechnics for the cameras because they couldn't get reliable ignition in staged crashes — and GM sued!) Dateline NBC was finally made to recant their story with an on-air apology, but that was only after GM had them dead to rights lying and fabricating evidence.

No such oversight exists in the Trayvon Martin editing scandal. Asking NBC to investigate its “journalistic ethics and integrity” is an oxymoron.

Famous bank robber Willie Sutton, when asked why he robbed banks answered, “because that's where the money is,” Now imagine Willie robbing the NBC piggy bank and then NBC hiring Sutton to audit the loss because “he was familiar with our product.” RIGHT!
