Not to worry -
The football player bit was a lie as well.

He hasn’t played in 2-3 years. That is why there is no current football shot.

They lied about his size, used photos for age, his sports, his suspensions - both number and reason, etc.

I think it went out the window with coverage of the Tet Offensive in 1968.

“Do we know what a “Toure” is in the first place?”

From Sekou Toure, one of the post-colonial-era leaders in Africa who were lionized by American black liberationists and Western liberal elite, even as they looted their countries:

LOL...you caught it before the next post, so it doesn’t count! (Isn’t that an unwritten rule?)

Great synopsis. Michael Savage had an excellent segment on his show last night which went a little further into the history of journalism. Originally, it was a profession of the working class, a check and balance if you will, on the elite ruling class.

Most of the people who went into journalism were from no-name colleges if they had a degree at all. Much of it was hard, investigative work. Most of it was quite routine and not all that exciting. Typically, a new reporter was assigned to a beat ranging from the mundane (obituaries) to the semi-exciting (police blotters). They would get better assignments only as they proved themselves. Just one or two sloppy stories could result in a demotion back to a beat or even being terminated and cast into the outer darkness of a freelancer where they would have to spend the majority of their time trying to sell an article or photo essay.

Editors who let sloppy stories slip through would often share the blame and the penalty. That's why they would constantly question sources, tone and insist on crosschecks.

Today, journalists get elite assignments not because they earned them, but because they graduated with elite Ivy League credentials, have the right contacts, attend the same parties and run in the same social circles with the same politicians they are supposed to be reporting on. The closer you get to the centers of power (state capitals, Washington, New York), the more true this is. While you may occasionally find honest journalists on the fringes, most of them aspire to eventually join the elite and understand the only path there is to toe the party line..

This is why their power needs to be broken in the place where it is most vulnerable-- by shattering their credibility.

Yeah, but the black base is going to vote for Obama anyway. I’m not 100% sure about the black racists base, I’m not sure the “hoodie army” can be motivated to go to something as bourgeois as voting.

But how many white votes would it cost them? Even guilty white libs don’t want rioters on their doorsteps, or their grandparents door step.

I’m not saying it would make actual liberals vote against Obama, but it would not play well with anybody except the extremely extreme left.

I am satisfied that the root of the problem is found in the Associated Press (and any other wire service). If you report for a member of the AP you want your story to go national, not just local. So you please other journalists by promoting what journalism as such, inherently desires. Circulation? Of course. Influence? Most definitely. Those are the motives which explain the behavior of journalism. Including its leftist bias. Notice that I did not mention “objectivity” in that little list. Let’s face it, actually attempting objectivity is hard work, and it doesn’t allow you to pat yourself on the back about actually being objective.

IMHO the sovereign remedy for wire service journalism’s bias is to be found in a simple lawsuit, and a big verdict. George Zimmerman has cause for a libel action against NBC for editing his 911 call to fit journalism’s template. But it isn’t just NBC, it is the entire journalism establishment baying in chorus with it. And the AP, which was found to be in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act back in 1945, is the enabler which creates the unified chorus. Sue them all, for publicizing the Black Panthers’ terrorist bounty on George Zimmerman without condemning it. Sue them for their very socks, and demand the abolition of the AP as an organization of news outlets. Let the AP publish news if it wants to, but destroy the monopoly which is the membership of the AP.

Remember, it’s not just George Zimmerman; all Republicans are the real target. Democrat George Zimmerman has been anointed an honorary Republican - a white hispanic in the code of the NYT. Otherwise this incident would be lost in the shuffle of scores of black men killed each month in America. But since those homicides are so predominantly black-on-black crime, they do not fit a Democrat template and are strictly local stories if they are that.
