I spare myself the misery and automatically assume Obamacare will be upheld.

If it isn’t, I would be pleasantly surprised.

What I think could very well happen is that they say the mandate is not Constitutional.

Don’t get excited yet. I also think they will uphold the rest of it. Then the Obama admin will seek a single payer system using the same format as SS and Medicare (say bye to your paycheck). They will pay for it by taking the funds from you paycheck.

There is a precedence, Social Security.

Only way then to overturn will be changing the President and the Senate.

Yup. I was keen on NOT signing my kids up for it (let them decide their own involvement), but the ~$20,000 cumulative tax credit loss (to wit: penalty) each was rather persuasive.

And I expect that will be the model for the replacement. Sign up for qualifying health insurance, and the IRS will give you a 100% refundable tax credit. No penalty, but no excuse to not get coverage.
