Larry O'Donnell Again Attacks Romney's Religion
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 04/03/2012 8:26:04 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Larry O'Donnell makes a living attacking Mormonism. We noted years ago how he lambasted the LDS church as "demented" and "ridiculous." The MSNBC host was back at it again tonight.

On this evening's Last Word, O'Donnell dismissed Mormonism as a religion "invented" by its founder, Joseph Smith, for purposes of excusing his infidelity. A sneering O'Donnell added that Mitt Romney "says his believes" in his religion.

For all the bleating and gnashing of teeth around here about how horrible Obama is, most here think Romney is worse.

There was plenty of religious stuff dished out upon Obama in '08 re: his ties to Rev. Jeremiah wright...and the reality that Obama at that time belonged to a denomination that began ordaining homosexuals in 1967...before even the homosexual lobby was demanding such...

Since that time, it seems Obama is free-lancing...it seems he's not even really trying to be linked to a Christian church or denomination...

IoW, he's no longer counterfeiting himself as "Christian."

Romney, on the other hand, does counterfeit himself as "Christian."

If you're a retailer, are you going to be concerned about foreign bills coming into circulation...or counterfeits???

Now that does that get you up to speed on one of the key concerns here????

Well, O'Donnell has some of his info--and timing-- wrong...

O'Donnell claimed Joseph Smith made up Mormonism to cover up an affair with his teen maid. Not so.

Smith had already published the Book of Mormon in 1830...and it actually outright condemns polygamy...If Smith had been wanting to use it as a cover-up, he would have excluded these condemnations...or wrote the opposite.

Mormons concede the affair with the maid began in 1831.

Now, it is true that Smith eventually used his religion and so-called "revelations" to approve of polygamy...but that wasn't til 1843. Up until then, he had been able to hide enough of his immoral shenanigans from his wife, the world...and even locally...but by 1843, his wife was having no more of it...and was threatening Joseph with what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Even the 1843 "revelation" wasn't widely circulated -- or at least, wasn't publicly circulated -- until 1852...8 years after Smith's death...by then, the Lds got up and went off to Utah.

The defense of mormonISM when one knows nothing of mormonISM is really boring.

“I’m not going to vote for a religious leader in November. I’m going to vote for president.”

A person’s morality, their goodness, their virtue comes from
God and if you follow some crazy sect who reject the basics
of Christianity, how is God going to guide them and bless
them?

You have to vote no to Obama and Romney.

Is it true, the Mormon belief, Romney will be given some
special prize? I’ve read it’s his own planet but that’s
absolutely crazy.

Maybe, it’s something else....

Nope.
mormonISM teaches that men get their own planets so they to can be a god.
That is of course they follow all the rules in this earth, which he does.
And he gets many wives so they can be eternally pregnant and the man can have more people to rule over.
Romney is as high as one can be within mormonISM, without being one of the chosen “12”.
My lds family is supporting him 100%, because they beleive he is the fulfillment of an lds prophecy about a white horse and the constitution hanging by a thread and this man in the prophecy will be the only one to restore the USA, because only a “saint” can accomplish this.
If you follow Romney back through his life, the information is pretty easy to find which elevates him to superman status.
Look up the accident in France and how the story changed from the original or the young girl he helped find and how that changed. When you read the original stories and now read how SLC lds tells the stories it is actually a bit scary.

Hi,

Thank you for explaining and you would really know coming
out of Mormonism. God bless you. Pray for the conversion
of your family, I am sure you do. I am in the same position,
Catholic wise. Most of my family are liberal and fallen
away.

Wow! The Mormon belief:

“And he gets many wives so they can be eternally pregnant and the man can have more people to rule over.”

It sounds like Islam, LDS has the same founder, Lucifer.

I’ll look up the “France” story.

Thank you, you don’t know how dear your welcome is to me.
Coming from a pro-Romney site (I didn’t realize, I thought
it was a discussion about all the candidates with their many polls posted), I got beat up.

Happy Easter

I dare him to say: “[Christianity] was created by a [gal] in [Israel] when [she] got caught [being pregnant] and explained to [her financee] that God [was the father]. Forty-eight [years] later, [the “Virgin” Mary’s lifestyle was completely sanctified in the religion [she and her love-child Jesus] invented to go with it. Which [fill-in-the-blank] says he believes.”

Believers - don’t flame me here. I’m just using this to illustrate O’Donnell’s cowardice in focusing his bigotry on a relatively unpopular religion, and to show he could have used the same rhetoric to ridicule any other religion.

On TV Sunday a panel discussion of faith with Ann Graham Lott, a priest , a minister and a Mormon congressman turned into a discussion of Romneys Mormonism ,that was just the beginning
