israel national news ^ | 4/4/2012, | Elad Benari

Posted on 04/03/2012 9:15:43 PM PDT by Rabin

The survey, conducted among 1,004 American Jews by the Washington-based Public Religion Research Institute, found that Obama has the same level of support, 62 percent, among American Jewish voters as during a comparable point in the 2008 race.

Obama administration is blaming Israel for the recent rise in global crude oil prices. The rise in fuel prices is deemed as harming the U.S. economy and has also hurt Obama in the polls

Of Jews who supported Obama in 2008, an overwhelming majority, 86 percent, say they would like to see him re-elected

They don’t think that what is happening in Israel could ever happen here. They’re not very bright. The Muzzies are coming in numbers and Obama is the doorman.

This isn’t surprising, but I think that if Republicans play their cards right, they can win a larger share than they usually do.

Perhaps Congressman Eric Cantor would be a good choice for Vice President.

I’ve never understood why the American Jewish population would vote Democrat!

The RATS have screwed them over so many times, and now Zer0 is in an open fight with Isreal about the control of the mid-east.

If any population knows about excessive government power, certainly it is the European Jews, with tatoos on their arms, overjoyed to escape with their lives - pining for their murdered loved ones.

They vote for the socialist Rats, they drive Mercedes Benz, so who can figure them out!

If you’re Jewish, please respond to help me understand what’s up with the Jewish mindset. I just don’t understand.

Thanks.

I freely admit that the dynamic behind US Jewish support of Marxist Obama is totally lost on me.

All the libs that I know (and I live in California, so I know zillions) seem to hate (or not like with passion) Israel. (I don't understand that dynamic, either.)

I heard Medved talk about this once, and IIRC it was more of a political habit than an informed opinion. That said, thinking and observant people can, and should "think" and "observe".

I’m not Jewish, but I can tell you....

For a majority of American Jews, liberalism is far more important than Judaism.

Their love of liberalism is greater than their love for the State of Israel. It’s sad and unfortunate.

Fortunately, not all American Jews feel this way.

The 2012 Jewish Values Survey was conducted by Public Religion Research Institute among a random sample of 1,004 self-identified Jewish adults (ages 18 and older) who are part of the Knowledge Networks’ KnowledgePanel. Interviews were conducted online between February 23 and March 5, 2012.

Huh?

I gave up on listening to Michael Medved.
His explanation for the Jewish vote is that they are always for the “under dog”, because THEY can relate.

Funny...I always gave Jews more respect for intellect than what Medved does.

I have “Jewish” relatives by marriage—some have lost businesses during this depression. Some also voted for the anti-semite in office.

Bitter pill, that. But...have they learned anything?

I'm too weary of the entire domestic Jewish 'Stockholm Syndrome' to even revisit the issue. While the core motivations may be somewhat different, Jews voting for any candidate to the furthest left of the spectrum is no different than blacks doing the same. If Obama came out tomorrow and admitted to the planet as to what he truly was - an anti-Semitic, anti-American, pro-Muzzie, neo-Communist black militant, a full 80% of black and Jewish America would still follow that Godless stack of human garbage into the abyss, and happily take their neighbors with them. Know thy enemy.

I looked at the voting history going back about 100 years.

Historically they go for the Democrat, the Progressive, the Socialist. At times they voted in a 90% block (FDR, LBJ).

Reagan was able to make huge gains over Ford. He got nearly 40% against Carter, that hadn't happened since Ike and no GOP candidate got over 40% of the Jewish vote since 1920. Reagan's gains evaporated by the time Bush ran against Clinton.

1920 was also the only time a Republican won a plurality of the Jewish vote. That was because of a three way race with a Democrat and a Socialist splitting the vote.

Socialism is part and parcel of American Jews, minus a few who somehow avoided sucking up their socialism with their mothers milk.

Hmmn - does that mean conservative Jews in America were bottle babies?

;-)

Jokes aside, Obama will lose American Jewish voters about the same time he loses the black vote. Think sometime after the next Ice Age.

The support Israel gets here doesnt reflect the republican party as a whole. Plus there is alot of support from nutjob evangelicals who want all the jews in israel and israel to be in its biblical borders so that the apocalypse will come and they will either convert or be killed.

Support from those types is sort of shaking hands with the devil in their eyes.

Then comes the point that alot of american jews dont care all that much about israel because they are AMERICAN.
Then you have the Haredi and some orthodox jews who are vehemently against zionism and the existence of israel.

INHO, the survey was done by a very liberal organization, and appear to be delusional.

Yes, sheik, I thought the same thing, but wouldn't use the term "delusional."

According to the posted article, "The 2012 Jewish Values Survey was conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute among a random sample of 1,004 self identified Jewish adults (age 18 or older) who are a part of the Knowledge Networks' KnowledgePanel."

This is far from a "random sample" of American Jews as a whole, since the participants are self-selected by their previous participation in this "KnowledgePanel," which appears to be a left-leaning site, and therefore attracts a more left-leaning population than the more standard telephone polling would. In fact, Jews who are more conservative politically would probably be statistically less likely to even use the Internet at all, let alone use that particular site. Therefore, there is good reason to think that the end result, 62% voting for Obama, is an overestimate of his support in the Jewish community. By the same logic, the 4% of respondents here who reported Israel as their most important issue is undoubtedly a gross underestimate for the American Jewish population as a whole.

It takes a lot of chutzpah for the polling organization to use this flawed technique and proclaim that their results reflect the attitudes of the American Jewish community as a whole.

American Jewish voters have been hard-core leftists for decades, so none of this is a surprise. I’ve speculated that so much of this can be attributed to two major factors: (1) a general distrust of “traditional American values” because of anti-Semitic prejudice in many American institutions over the years; and (2) the cultural influence that can be traced to immigration of large numbers of Jews from Eastern Europe in the early decades of 20th century. For many of those immigrants a totalitarian nanny-state was a way of life, and they brought their Marxist attitudes with them here to the U.S.

Of Jews who supported Obama in 2008, an overwhelming majority, 86 percent, say they would like to see him re-elected...

This must be the new math. If there is a lesser percentage of those that supported him in 2008, how can Obama have the same level of support? Are there suddenly more supporters in 2012 from the group who voted against him in 2008?

The answer is simple. Jews who vote Democrat are Jewish by birth only. Their religion is liberalism. Any time their loyalties (if any) to Judaism are in conflict with their liberalism, liberalism wins.

I wouldn't be surprised if 60% or so is correct. It would be a tremendous swing from recent elections. The 4% for Israel sounds low, and you're right to question the polling. These are pre-selected, recruited panels, not random, which is fine. But you'll note the firm neither advertises the availability of a Jewish sample, nor does Jew or Jewish come up on site searches, so the sample might be suspect.

There maybe a statistically higher representation of Jews in "high paying areas of society," but it wouldn't be very accurate to say that any more than a small minority of American Jews are "very rich." The "very rich" may be prominent, but they are not numerous enough to make a dent in a poll that is claimed to represent the entire American Jewish community.

The very rich always seem to like totalitarians. I suppose they do not want challenges to their own dominance.

There are some "very rich" who do like totalitarians, but only when they are "in" with the totalitarian regime and therefore perceive that their wealth will not be threatened. These can be considered, for the most part, as the "crony capitalists." Others of the "very rich," whose views are incompatible with the totalitarian regime and who lack the proper connections to it, will be leaders of the opposition.

While it is certainly true that there are many super-rich who support totalitarianism, (and why not, since they would be rich and/or influential enough to control it, and control of a totalitarian society is very tempting), there is another factor at work here that encourages this perception: right wing socialism (or "populism," since to traditional right wing Americans "socialism" is a dirty word).

From 1977 to 1981 (the Carter administration) I was a member of the John Birch Society. They taught me that Communism was secretly a plot of the American capitalist establishment (especially the old East Coast Hamiltonian elites) to conquer and rule the world. The guy who was actually in charge was David Rockefeller (who I believe turns 97 this year). As a matter of fact, David Rockefeller fired Khrushchev and replaced him with Brezhnev.

What we have in America are two mutually exclusive, hostile camps of socialists on the verge of war with each other, each claiming to be "the people" and to be opposed to "the establishment." It ain't gonna be pretty.

PS: The above was not written as an apologia for the old East Coast Hamiltonian elites, which actually seem to have taken a hard left. It was written to merely point out the similarity of "left wing" and "right wing" rhetoric.
