Brent Bozell, founder and president of the Media Research Center, published an editorial in NewsBusters Tuesday night taking National Public Radio to task for the appearance of an alliance between its hosts and the liberal cable news network MSNBC.
In Maddow and the NPR-MSNBC Alliance, Bozell took issue with a March 27 episode of the NPR radio program Fresh Air with Terry Gross in which Gross devoted an hour to fawning praise of MSNBC prime-time host Rachel Maddow. Bozell contends that the meritless plaudits only ceased when the network went to commercial when they ran ads for MSNBC.
Each weekday night she talks about issues in the news and important issues that she thinks most of the media have underplayed or overlooked, said Gross of Maddow. Theres an article about Maddow and her book in the current edition of The American Prospect by our critic at large, John Powers. He writes: Maddow embodies virtues rationality, good humor and courtesy that make her an alluring alternative to our cultures furious partisan stridency. Maddow doesnt merely want to win viewers over to her side. She wants to make them smarter and better informed.
Bozell took issue with the taxpayer-funded NPR allowing its host to nakedly partisan:

Thats vomitous. Has Gross ever watched The Rachel Maddow Show? She doesnt show partisan stridency? Last year, she dismissed a potential Newt Gingrich surge as almost as ridiculous as a Rick Santorum surge, which she said would never happen. The graphic on screen mocked Newt with the word Shampaign. Then she mocked Santorums name as its mocked on Google as a mix of semen and feces: But the idea of a Newt Gingrich surge is almost as absurd as people, uh, you know, Googling Rick Santorum and saying, I like what I found here, I`m going to vote for this guy.
That Terry Gross can really pick em when it comes to civil nonpartisan discourse.

Bozell goes on to chronicle what he considers the more egregious examples of lavish praise for Maddow, including Gross assertion that Maddow and her staff put in an extraordinary amount of work into the shows opening monologue an assertion with which Maddow agreed.
Finally, Bozell reminds his audience that, whether they want to or not, they are partially responsible for funding this program.

The ending was the most preposterous. Gross told Maddow that some people equate Fox News and MSNBC as flip sides of the same coin. Maddow disagreed, claiming that while Fox was founded to advance the interests of the Republican Party, MSNBC isnt a unified political project to accomplish the goals of any external political body.
Conservatives, I told you that you wouldnt like reading this. All this was taxpayer-funded.
What ever happened to the House’s claim that they were going to defund NPR? Another empty hollow promise by gutless RINOs just like Issa making endless and now embarrassing commentary and interviews on F&F while doing NOTHING to see that actual justice is administered.
I can’t stand that Maddow fellow.
When it first came on the air I used to listen to Ms. Gross on Vt. Public Radio since she came on immediately after a classical music hour.
After a couple of days I decided her program would be more accurately titled “Hot Air.”
“What ever happened to the Houses claim that they were going to defund NPR?”
Ive been hearing that mantra since the mid 1990s, even earlier.
Nothing ever happens. RINOs are going to defund NPR?
What a joke.
The Republicans in Congress aren’t even pretending to pay heed to conservatives anymore. Not even lip service. Could they all have that many skeletons in their closets, or are they just not bothered anymore and don’t care who knows it as long as they collect their pay and perks? The only time they speak out anymore, it’s something oppositional to conservatives!

This last part made me laugh out loud.
Does she think people actually believe that? She constantly attacks conservatives and kisses the asses of the liberal elite, can’t get any clearer than that.
Why do liberals hate successful rich people so much??
I’m guessing the two had a good carpet munch after the program.
The good news is no one watches NPR.
If she wants to sell books she needs to go on Fox!
You do know that Issa is a House member, not an employee of the Justice Department, don’t you? What should he do after multiple hearings are convened and mountains of evidence is presented, but the media ignores it and Eric Holder chooses not to indict HIMSELF!!???
This NPR hack obviously didn’t watch Madcow during the special election that Scott Brown won for Kennedy’s seat. The same night that Matthews was drunk during his segment.
I never thought I would read the words Maddow, virtues, rationality, and alluring in one sentence!
................ “I have a simple five-word definition to recommend, one that works every time it’s applied to Democrat policies: impose tyranny by deceitful means. (Conservative alternative: enable liberty by truthful means.)”
