Romney opens lead in Santorum's backyard
Mitt Romney Leads In New Pennsylvania Poll ^ | 04/05/2012 | Doug Mataconis

Posted on 04/05/2012 6:49:16 AM PDT by Ocarterma

Two days after losing three more primaries, Rick Santorum appears to be in trouble in his home state:

Mitt Romney’s taken the lead in PPP’s newest poll of Rick Santorum’s home state of Pennsylvania. Romney has 42% to 37% for Santorum with Ron Paul at 9% and Newt Gingrich at 6%. The numbers represent a dramatic turnaround from when PPP polled the state a month ago. Romney’s gained 17 points, going from 25% to 42%. Meanwhile Santorum’s dropped 6 points from 43% to 37%, for an overall swing of 23 points in the last four weeks.

Interesting post Darrell.... There are some who say if this goes to convention .."there will be blood"....I tend to think that's a possibility. Romney and the LDS have invested gazillions into his 8 yrs. running for Pres.....and as we've seen pulled out the stops to take down Newt. They will do more so if this goes to Convention...and that against any who stand In Romney's way.

I do believe Newt and Romney are working the delegates and began doing so some time ago....as well as those who appoint those delegates. Sanatorium simply doesn't have the manpower nor connections strong enough to do so. Especially since he was the diversion away from Newt.

Am still hopeful Newt and Sanatorium can remain in this long enough to get to convention....the delegate card have not yet been played....candidates can fight the bound and unbound distribution of candidates as well.

Although I'd love to see Sanatorium drop out and give Newt the reins to take this all the way to convention. Ricks had his two man race and has failed thus far to stop Romney. So he cannot blame Newt any longer for his failures.

You see? Why would people prefer Romney over Obama when you get the same result, right down to the PC, pandering remarks? Romney is such an IDIOT....I don’t care whether women get admitted to some club or not! Let the men have their clubs and the women have theirs!

Actually I’m beginning to think that a lot of the people who call themselves consesrvatives are just as stupid as Democrats.

Six months ago, I was getting over Perry dropping out, and hoping Newt might be able to get it done, while trying not to let myself acknowledge what I knew. Romney was inevitable from day one. You could tell from the earliest debates——no matter what his performance was like, no matter how badly he got his butt kicked, he always was “the clear winner.” Every time.

PA is going to be interesting: PPP trend line is going Romney

Is PPP reliable, or are they an exarchate of RiNO Central?

Santorum has no chance of being the nominee even if he ends up eeking out a win at home anyway.

Thanks, Mitt, for that helpful insight.

You did that on the other thread, too.

However, if he loses his home state in a primary, all that good work may be lost.

Spoken like a true RiNO troll from RNC Central, N00b. So who were you before you got zotted, or did you just establish this account to show off for your RiNO supervisor?

“McCain was at least pro-life and a war hero. But I didn’t vote for him, I voted for Sarah. I will not pull the lever for the abortionist/socialist big government RINO Romney. And I don’t care who he selects as a running mate. Never again.”

I fully concurr. “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!”

Santorum’s insane obsession to stay in the race will destroy any hope he might have in the future.

You really hate Santorum's guts, don't you?

Why?

Actually I’m beginning to think that a lot of the people who call themselves consesrvatives are just as stupid as Democrats.

The reality is that people who call themselves conservatives are as rampant as those who call themselves catholics. They have no idea what it really means. Those who assign themselves are much fewer in number than the general population anyway. That’s the reality, and it’s hard to take. But it’s what we have in this culture and wishing it wasn’t so won’t change it. It will only return the POTUS back to O.

The question is, what do we as conservatives do next.

Do whatever you want. I intend to try to help unseat the Alien Usurper by voting for the gop candidate, Romney or whomever.

If Rick loses... we all lose... and that is a fact

No, that is an opinion. And one with which a large proportion of Americans quite obviously disagree..

Romney is not an idiot. Neither is he a movement conservative. He is best described as a pragmatist like Nixon. But setting aside his lack of ideological purity, he can bring serious strengths to bear which will make him a tough competitor against the Usurper.

Everyone here complains about, and acknowledges, his brutal but effective campaign in vanquishing his primary competitors. Let us assume he will unleash the same weapons against the Usurper--anyone got problems with that?

Financially he has a huge reservoir of resources available, more than Santorum or Gingrich or all the rest put together could hope to recruit. Romney may be the only guy out there who can go up against the leftwing money machine and not get flattened. That matters.

If he wins, he has the temperament to run things. When he said "I like firing people" he was saying something important about how he might approach reigning in wasteful gubbermint.

His experience in "Vulture Capitalism" may look pretty good when applied against wretched bloated bureaucracies like the Departments of commerce/education/energy/agriculture.

I'm a Newt supporter and have been, but the reality is what it is, it's time to face it and make the best of it.

Whether you call Obama a socialist in your stump speech is a tactical decision, not a critical judgment. I'd call him a fascist myself, but the point is, however accurate, either of these terms may well sound to the casual listener like partisan name-calling. It could lose you a few votes at the margin, which is where elections usually are won or lost.

The primary is when you vote for the candidate you want to. The general election is when you vote for the candidate you have to!

That sums it up very succinctly, nice work.

Rick is too good for this nation right now.

Funny, that's just what the whores and scoundrels of the NYSlimes have said about the Usurper. Maybe the two have more than that in common.

I've posted to alot of the posters on this thread because this one issue highlights so effectively the perfidy of Mitt Romney and his total lack of any conservative principles.

I felt it needed further clarification and discussion as WOSG, a Romney supporter, is apparently woefully uninformed as most Romney supporters are and are running over the clift like a bunch of lemmings following the pied piper telling them the world will end tomorrow.

WOSG's original reply to me:

Romney and his family never supported gay marriage, but McCain’s family does with their vacuous duct tape ads.

Are you willfully ignorant or are you purposefully keeping your head in the sand where Romney is concerned?

Romney frequently says one thing, pretending to be a conservative, and then does what is really in his heart, Progressive Liberalism.

This is exactly what he did with Gay Marriage.

He has always STATED he believed marriage was between a man and a woman.

ANd then:

1. The supreme court of MA declared that current law of MA, where marriage was concerned, was discrimatory towards homosexuals.
2. The Supreme Court of MA directed the LEGISLATURE to fix the problem.
3. The Constitution of the State of MA declares that all laws concerning marriage are to be generated or created in the LEGISLATURE.
4. Romney was reminded of this fact by multitudes of various people.
5. Romney, not waiting for the LEGISLATURE, not heeding the constitution of the state of MA, not heeding the advice of a multitude of conservatives, deceitfully declared that Gay Marriage was the law of MA and directed the magistrates of MA to comply with this undeclared, unconstitutional law even threatening the magistrates of MA with being fired if they did not comply.

After it was all said in done, Romney himself, ALL BY HIMSELF, implemented Gay Marriage.

He is the Father of Gay Marriage.

Correction to your correction:

The crypto-Communist Obama and the lying left-wing, Progressive Liberal Romney both need to be defeated in November.
