Republicans Brace For The Romney Pivot (Stabbed in the Back)
BuzzFeed ^ | April 5, 2012 | Ben Smith

The moment will probably come in the early fall of 2012: Ultra-conservative House Republicans will draw a clear line in the sand, and Mitt Romney will have to choose whether to stand with them, or stand against them. Romney quieted conservative complaints last month by embracing Paul Ryan’s budget and its deep spending cuts. Now President Obama has already begun to cast the plan, and the candidate, as “radical.” Many conservatives are quietly resigned to the expectation that their candidate will betray them, likely in the fall as he pivots toward the center. And some Republican strategists are already urging Romney to make that public break with his party’s conservative Washington leaders, who are as unpopular with the broad electorate as they are beloved by the conservative base.

Wrong again, FRiend -- your libertarian vote that gave us Clinton played an important role for the good -- pat yourself on the back for having the courage to vote what your instincts told you was smart, because it DID lead to a later victory.

You did your part in making sure that Clinton won with only 42 percent of the vote (I voted for GHW -- I have voted straight Republican ticket since I began voting 35-plus years ago -- I have never voted for a Democrat, and not even a third party except in local races), and I think that number played an important role in the Republican revolution in Congress that followed. Had you NOT voted, Clinton's percentage would have been higher and that "revolution" less powerfully motivated; had you voted for GHW, it would have "confirmed" that voters wanted the Republican party to be more liberal.

The ONLY way to bring the Republican party to the right, is to vote such that liberal Republicans lose. It is THE ONLY WAY. In retrospect, I think you voted smarter than I did in that election.

Those of us who vote to reject surrendering the Republican party to liberalism even if it risks keeping Obama with MUCH much weaker support, WILL have an outcome on the election in that we reduce the liklihod that the winner will be able to claim majority support of the people.

Your tagline -- make a closer inspection of Romney's past, both in government and in the private sector. Your tagline hails Romney -- America can only become the USSR with Republican cooperation, and that IS ROMNEY.

I will vote to fight and weaken the real enemy: liberalism. Even if my candidate (whoever it happens to be -- Pat Paulsen, for all I know!) loses, my vote will have served to weaken the victory of which ever socialist, Romney or Obama, wins.

How do I deal with ignorance…I will try…..

“George Romney was a citizen. His parents moved to Mexico to practice polygamy, they never relinquished their US citizenship.”

That does not mean one rass. George was born in Mexico which made him a Mexican citizen whether you like it or not. That is Mexican law as well as U.S. law.

“John McCain’s citizenship has been investigated to death. His parents were citizens and he was born on a military base/hospital.”

Panama Juan was born in Colon, Republic of Panama, in a Panamanian hospital (Colon Hospital). He is not a natural-born citizen. He is a dual citizen. He lied in his lying book. Where have you been for all these years?

“Rubio is a citizen. He was born in FL and his parents were citizens when he was born.”

His parents were NOT American citizens at the time of his birth. They were still Cuban citizens. Therefore, he is not a natural-born citizen. He was an anchor baby. Where have you been for all these years?

“I do not know for sure about BHO, way to much contradictory information.”

At first I thought you were only ignorant. I now realize you are stupid.

Ignorance is salvageable. Stupidity is forever.

You certainly are entitled to your opinion and I would encourage anyone to PUSH and PUSH hard for their candidate in the Primary.

Once the primary dust has settled, unless you liked the outcome of voting for a 3rd party when Clinton ran you might want to rethink throwing your important vote away.

“Weakening the victory”? Sorry, don’t think for one minute Odumbo or Mitt gives a rats behind if they win/lose by one more or less vote. You will have sent NO message whatsoever.

I detest how left leaning the GOP has become and that is the reason the Tea Party did so well.

Too bad the Tea Party has been so relatively silent (no not completely silent) during the primary. This was the chance to pull the GOP to the right and that opportunity was lost.

In any event, if you and too many others go 3rd party you will guarantee a self avowed hater of the USA will win re-election.

Even if we do a better job in the House and Senate, this criminal in the White Hut feels he is free to do end runs around congress and the courts. With affirmative action Holder in the DOJ just who the hell will stop Odumbo the muslim? AS CIC, and controlling the various departments relating to enforcement, just who will arrest him?

It certainly will not be the USSC as I don’t think they have guns under those robes. The bull dyke head of DHS? No! Would the military under Planetta save us? NO!

Once Odumbo the messiah does not have to face another election I do not see any mechanism in government to reign him in. Impeachment? Congress has to do it. Think they will?

The GOP can kiss my vote good bye. I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR A CULT MEMBER.

Mormons are a CULT plain and Simple, no different than Scientology.

Romneycare vs Obamacare ... not enough difference to tell them apart. The same can be said for a number of other issues such as abortion, gun control, the role and size of government.

Frankly, I have to hope they will, and/or that some other event would come to pass, yes, to minimize Obama's recklessness. Looking into the future that way it's best to consider a likely spectrum. No matter what the MSM says, the reality is that most Americans are pretty sick of government and consider Obama a crappy president.

That's a truth to be factored in reckoning an Obama future. If enough vote ABOOR (Anybody but Obama or Romney) instead of staying home, the percentage of Obama's plurality would be pitiful. He'd be even more despised than he is now, and he is despised by many. Most, more than likely.

Clinton got what, 43 percent? And what came next? The Republican revolution in Congress. You think that would have happened if he'd won with 52 percent?

I wish you would stop looking behind you at Obama, and start looking in front of you at Romney. Better a despised self-avowed hater of the USA win without my vote, than a Republican despiser and defier of consevative principles, win with it.

That guy, because of fear of Obama, would have conservatives' sanction to do all the same damage as Obama. Romney is a liberal. He will ignore conservatives in the party and liberal Repubicans will be calming conservatives down, reminding them that moderates are the reason Republicans are in the White House at all.

Eyes wide open -- take a break from fixating on what you intend to vote "against," and start giving honest consideration of what you WOULD be voting FOR.

A deal with the devil has consequences. I think it's probably a lot smarter to pass on that deal.
