Israeli alarm over treaty with Egypt grows

Israel's concerns that its historic peace treaty with Egypt could be in peril amid the political upheaval in Cairo have intensified with the announcement by the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood it will contest presidential elections next month.

Amos Gilad, a top aide to Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak and a former Israeli liaison with Cairo, said Tuesday he was apprehensive that the Muslim Brotherhood, which already dominates Parliament, could suspend or abrogate the 33-year-old peace pact.

The treaty, the first between Israel and its Arab adversaries, has been the linchpin of U.S. policy in the Middle East since it was sealed and scrapping it could accelerate the unraveling of U.S. strategy that has been taking place for some years now.

Gilad's comments underlined deepening Israeli fears that its current international isolation, the result of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's refusal to make concessions to bolster the moribund peace process, will be increased at a time when it is locked in a war of nerves with Iran over its nuclear program.

"I'm not hiding from you that we're concerned," Gilad told the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, a conservative think tank.

"The leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood keep declaring, 'We're committed to this peace.' I'm not so sure."

The Muslim Brotherhood, he said, "have a dream to establish an Islamic empire at the expense of Egypt. Israel is excluded anyway."

They will be at war within a year. And we might still have Mommy’s Little Man as our leader. Yikes.

A gift from our Supreme Commander in the W.H. Like Somoza in Nicaragua, the Shah in Iran, now Mubarak in Egypt has been thrown under the bus.

Ah, so this is why Obama was so intent on getting rid of Hosni Mubarrack, to nullify peace between Israel and Egypt, tying the hands of the Israelis further and isolating them.

Israel had better determine how they’re going to essentially wipe out these islamists lest they be wiped out. It’s that serious.

They will be at war within a year.

Just as he planned all along with his handlers. So his promise for change is right on track.

He will have us at war and hopes it will benefit him at election time. All we need is for one or all of the republican presidential possibles to "put the campaign on hold" a-la-McCain.

So he gets two tickets punched at once but the average citizen will not see that it is all part of his plan.

Checklist:
Brietbart gone. Check.
Energy sector in shambles. Check
Economy in ruins. Check.
Catholic church demonized. Check.
Middle East Politics in Ruins and unstable. Check.
Destruction of US Military well under way and hard to reverse even if he loses. Check.
Israel setup for destruction. Check.

Yep, for Obama and handlers and cronies the bucket list for the first term nearly complete. So we got the change he promised and so many believed in. Can't beat that for a first term. He has made the leftist/socialist agenda of the Clinton's look like pickers and they had TWO full terms.
