Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich capped his busy Thursday of cris-crossing Delaware by speaking at the 9-12 Delaware Patriots’ Sussex County chapter in the Millsboro Fire Hall. With several candidates for local and statewide offices in attendance, ranging from Glen Urquhart to Tom Kovach, Gingrich outlined his platform and vision for putting America back on the right track. He interacted with the audience from the podium, rolling with shouted remarks from attendees, and even referring to an Android tablet a man in the front row was using to talk about innovation through technology to make the government more efficient.
He outlined his plans, ranging from an energy policy that will allow for more drilling for oil and natural gas to bring down the cost of energy, make the U.S. non-dependent on the tumultous Middle East for oil, and keep jobs and money in the country. He says that by putting people back to work, it’ll get them off unemployment and paying taxes, which will address the federal budget deficit. Gingrich also says that his energy plan will ensure that an American president will never bow to the Saudis again (referring to President Obama’s 2009 tour to the Middle East). That remark drew a long, loud standing ovation from the packed house inside the fire hall. Gingrich also discussed part of his proposed tax reform plan that would allow companies working on extracting oil and natural gas to write off all of their new equipment purchases in a year to allow them to purchase the most up-to-date equipment.
Gingrich discussed the boom in North Dakota, after the discovery in recent years of a large field of oil and natural gas. Gingrich told the crowd that as a result of that boom, unemployment in North Dakota has dropped to 3.5 percent, and there are approximately 16,000 to 18,000 jobs related to the oil field that are open. Gingrich used that to segue into describing his plan for creating a business training program that unemployment recipients would have to take to learn new work skills as a condition for receiving unemployment benefits. He also says his plan would create a more managerial style, with standards to measure government employees by, to modernize the federal bureaucracy. His plans for reducing the size of the federal government and returning more power to the states under the 10th Amendment also drew a standing ovation. Gingrich says he’s working on those plans with Texas Governor and former Presidential candidate Rick Perry.
Gingrich said that if delegate count leader Mitt Romney does reach the required 1,144 delegates for the Republican nomination, then he’ll support Romney in his campaign between the Republican National Convention and Election Day against President Obama. However, since Romney hasn’t reached that number, Gingrich says he and no other candidates have the obligation to drop out of the race before the convention in Tampa this August. Gingrich also took shots at Romney for the recent “Etch-A-Sketch” remarks by Romney’s campaign strategist, and contrasting it with how Romney called himself “severely conservative” at February’s Conservative Political Action Committee meeting in Washington.
Gingrich told the audience about how he had an uncle who was stationed at Dover Air Force Base, and that he has fond memories of Delaware, including working with former Governor Pete DuPont. He promised to come back to Delaware several times in the coming weeks.

“I think he’s a true conservative and he’s really trying to forge ahead with the cause for a conservative country because our country is not going where it needs to be going,” she said. “He gets it.”
Republican Stephanie Lindquist, 35, of Selbyville, was among the packed crowd at Millsboro Fire Hall. Gingrich has her vote because he is the most conservative of the presidential candidates and the one most qualified to get America back on track with its allies, particularly Israel, she said.
“If anything happens, this country is not going to be backed by the allies that have been so sacred to us for so many years,” Lindquist said. “I think that Gingrich is perfect for the foreign politics, amongst other things.” Source

Newt has the best message and can kick Obama’s butt :) Newt does not accommodate the left and their agenda. He is becoming stronger (as a statesman) every day because he is telling the truth. I love the guy.

Amy, who is 31 years old and single, supports Newt Gingrich for president. She says, “Newt’s the only one who’s a fighter, and who gets what the battle’s about.” She added, “I’m tired of buying into the candidates I’m told to support. I am trusting myself on this one, not the GOP’s pick.”
The basis for her support included her opinion that “Newt has a strong core.” When asked to follow up on this point, she said, “He’ll withstand opposition.” And then she said, “His strong core makes me feel secure.” She also explained that “he doesn’t care what others think.” She says she’s looking for a person strong enough to fix what she sees as a fiscal crisis and a loss of confidence in America.
Amy said that another reason she supports Gingrich is that “he’s smart.” This led her to say, “He’ll expose the other side,” and “I feel validated” when he articulates the positions she feels strongly about.
Her last reason was that Gingrich has a “twinkle in his eyes.” Okay, this is something few men would be likely to say. But her point is clear: She likes Gingrich’s confident, almost swashbuckling bravado. She is looking for a brave candidate who won’t wilt in a debate or compromise his (and her) core beliefs in a game of give-and-take politics.
Taken together, these elements of Amy’s mental map reveal her propensity for jumping into the fray and a desire for a candidate who will take her along with him. Her desire to support a candidate who’s a fighter — and who has more than an ounce of charm — reveals not only why Gingrich is her pick, but also how he has managed to woo some females to his side. As Amy looks at the country’s future with a bit of fear, her values lead her to a desire for a candidate who is tough, innovative, and prepared to fight.

Just got back from seeing Newt and Callista at tonight’s Delaware 9-12 Patriots rally in Millsboro, DE.
Both were terrific.
What a pleasure it was to hear this man speak for over one half hour with no “uhh’s” or “ahh’s”. No notes. Friendly, engaging,humorous, feisty, thought-provoking.
Just one major idea after another—ideas that made you think what could be done. I am still in awe of the sheer mental power of the man.
Both Mrs. exit82 and I got to shake his hand and Mrs.got a picture with Newt and Callista.
Vin, I thought of you when I spoke to Newt. I told him that we were huge supporters and then I said “I’m in until you’re out!” and he got a kick out of that!
Romney and Santorum cannot hold a candle to this man. There were about 350 people there. Lots of Secret Service and news crews too.
There are so many topics that he touched upon that it is hard to remmber them all. He said he wanted to go to Tampa and he had specific party planks he wanted to fight to have included.
When he held forth on energy, everyone agreed with him. When he said “No longer will an American President bow down to the King of Saudi Arabia” it brought down the house and yielded a standing ovation.
For a moment, one could visualize what a real leader in the White House could accomplish.
My multiple donations to his campaign were well worth it. Time to make another.(which I did last night)
