Obama's giveaway: Oil-rich islands to Russia
World Net Daily ^ | 2/16/12 | Joe Miller

Posted on 04/06/2012 11:14:53 AM PDT by standingfirm

The Obama administration, despite the nation’s economic woes, effectively killed the job-producing Keystone Pipeline last month. The Arab Spring is turning the oil production of Libya and other Arab nations over to the Muslim Brotherhood. Iraq is distancing itself from the U.S. And everyone recognizes that Iran, whose crude supplies are critical to the European economy, will do anything it can to frustrate America’s strategic interests. In the face of all of this, Obama insists on cutting back U.S. oil potential with outrageous restrictions.

Part of Obama’s apparent war against U.S. energy independence includes a foreign-aid program that directly threatens my state’s sovereign territory. Obama’s State Department is giving away seven strategic, resource-laden Alaskan islands to the Russians. Yes, to the Putin regime in the Kremlin.

The seven endangered islands in the Arctic Ocean and Bering Sea include one the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined. The Russians are also to get the tens of thousands of square miles of oil-rich seabeds surrounding the islands. The Department of Interior estimates billions of barrels of oil are at stake.

The State Department has undertaken the giveaway in the guise of a maritime boundary agreement between Alaska and Siberia. Astoundingly, our federal government itself drew the line to put these seven Alaskan islands on the Russian side. But as an executive agreement, it could be reversed with the stroke of a pen by President Obama or Secretary Clinton.

Well, we can’t drill. Might as well let the Ruskies. Maybe they will sell it back to us cheaper than the Arabs, or South Americans.

It's been posted multiple times, and it's complete nonsensical garbage. These islands are north of Siberia, well west of Alaska, they were not part of the Alaska purchase, and the only inhabited one has had a Russian village on it for 100+ years.

As a side note, there’s no change in Obama’s policy on this from the Bush administration, anyway.

Typical WingNutDaily Garbage.

I hope we can get rid of this bastard in November. What really pisses me off is it cost $50 to fill the tank of my Subaru when a few years back, it was like $10 or 15. Ridiculous. With the driving between my wife and I my gasoline bills are $400 and this excludes driving trips like to the mountains or out of state !

Not this BS again.

Obama cannot give away island that belonged to Russia in the first. Just like Bush could not and Clinton could not.

Can the President unilaterally without an Act of Congress
give US land away?

Carter gave the Panama Canal away, but this was part of a Bill passed by Congress, that paid Panama an annual fee for the use of the Canal, which never got to Panama, but which was redirected to Large US Banks to compensate them for the BAD loans they made to poor countries, which Congress wanted to help, but found it politically impossible to give taxpayers’ $$ to.
