I shudder to think what could happen if renegades in our government arranged to have large quantities of firearms sent across the border into the hands of these gangs.

Already there, I’m afraid, if you happen to be unfortunate enough to live in a large city (mainly “blue state,” but plenty in “red states,” too...)
I’ve long believed that gangs are nothing more (or less) than domestic urban terrorists, and as such, should be shot on sight.
Nothing I’ve seen in the past 10 to 15 years or so has dissuaded me from that assertion. As a matter of fact, I believe it all the more strongly now.
