Feinstein headed for smooth ride to re-election
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 4/8/12 | Willie Brown

Sen. Dianne Feinstein was in town this week to help celebrate Muni's 100th birthday.

She looked good. Nice, tan suit and fit as a fiddle.

After talking with her and taking a look at the state's political landscape, I'm of the opinion that her re-election will be as smooth as a Sunday trolley ride to Fisherman's Wharf.

She said so far she has about 26 opponents lined up to run against her.

To me, that's no opposition, because none of them has the money, name identification or an issue big enough to seriously take on an incumbent as rooted and well known as Dianne.

And there does not appear to be any Meg Whitman or Carly Fiorina on the horizon.

In the meantime, Dianne appeared to genuinely enjoy her trolley ride with Mayor Ed Lee.

MONEY. That’s the only way we select our front runners. Look at Romney......nuff said.

She gets to be the Cruise Director on the Titanic.

He's right. The only way she's replaced in 2012 is from the Left. She's 78 and like Dick Lugar, 80, and some others, should really think about retiring.

However, since this is CA, DiFi might be doing Republicans a favor by not retiring yet. Her 'Rat successor will be more like Boxer than DiFi.

While the country was having its "Tea Party," Boxer had her easiest win yet in 2010. She's never been as popular as DiFi with voters.

No Republican who is a current officeholder, or who has any funding or name recognition, has signed up to run against her.

The one saving grace is that Feinstein and Boxer will find themselves back in the minority next year..

The one saving grace is that Feinstein and Boxer will find themselves back in the minority next year..

These two elderly white Jewish women will be the last non-Hispanic to be Senator from California. With the redistricting, CA's congressional delegation will eventually become all Dem. CA is the canary in the coal mine when it comes to what the US will look like in the future--broke and a Third World nation.

You are correct..and there will be NO bailout from Congress...I honestly don’t think the California Dems have a clue at to what is coming..they think that somehow they can keep the con game going on forever..

Unfortunately he is right. Californians as a whole ( not the good folks at FR or those trying to earn a living and save some to get out) are incapable of doing anything other than pulling the lever for the dim in office.

It has been like that for decades... more is the shame since it used to lead the world in innovation

Feinstein and Boxer are perfect examples of why this country needs to keep the Electoral College system. All Feinstein and Boxer need to do to stay in office is get the LA and San Francisco areas and it doesn’t matter how the rest of the state votes. Nationwide, the Democrats get the high population in cities states, the Republicans tend to get the countryside states. If there wasn’t an Electoral College, the Republicans would basically never win the Presidency again.
