In a blow to Gov. Mark Dayton and union supporters, a Ramsey County judge has permanently blocked a unionization vote by Minnesota child care workers.

District Judge Dale Lindman wrote in an eight-page order filed Friday, April 6, that the governor "exceeded his authority" when he called for the union election.

The proper way to deal with the issue would be at the Legislature, the judge wrote.

Very good, but the Minn Supreme Court will probably have a say in this?

This has nothing to do with people actually getting to vote to unionize. What the union is attempting to do is force all child care workers that receive any state funds into a union. This includes stay at home moms who watch one or two other kids that are on state assistance.

The Governor, the Legislature, and now you mention the state Supreme Court ... why on erf do they get a say on whether or not the workers organize? If the workers want to organize, that is their right - a foolish move to be sure, but their right. Why would Dayton or the state legislature feel empowered to impose a union on the child care workers? And why not the teamsters or the amalgamated meat cutters? Why are they limited to AFSCME or SEIU? Don't the organizing workers get a say in who they want to launder their dues to the RAT party?
