Mitt Romney is a Liberal, Part 3: Pro-life talk, pro-abortion record (June 18, 2011)
Poor Richard's News ^ | June 18, 2011

This is part 3 of an ongoing series exposing Mitt Romney’s false claims of conservatism. There has been a lot of focus about RomneyCare and Mitt Romney’s love for government mandates. Some are even calling Romney a RINO, but it’s much worse than that: Mitt Romney is a liberal.

Let’s start from the beginning and move up to what happened today.
•1994 - Mitt Romney ran for Senate in Massachusetts as a “pro-choice” Republican. That year he and his wife attended a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood. His wife donated $150 to Planned Parenthood. Here’s a video from the 1994 debate with Ted Kennedy:

•2002 - Romney campaigned for governor of Massachusetts as a “pro-choice” Republican. Again, here’s a video from that campaigns debate:

Also in 2002, Romney attended a bioethics forum and stated that he was “in favor of stem cell research” and would “work and fight” for stem cell research. He also promised to support taxpayer funds for elective abortion.
•2004 - Romney began considering a run for the Presidency, and at this time became officially “Pro-life.” However, pro-life to Romney didn’t mean the same that it means to most conservatives:

Mitt Romney on Abortion - May 27, 2005

So now he’s not going to let his “personal” views impact his view on existing pro-abortion law.
•2005 - Romney nominated to Massachusetts district court openly pro-abortion Democrat Matthew Nestor. He also reversed a previous decision and signed an executive order requiring Catholic hospitals to make the RU486 abortion pill available.
•2006 - Romney singed his socialist health plan RomneyCare into law which provides taxpayer funds for elective abortions. At that time he gave a permanent seat on the Massachusetts health payment policy board to Planned Parenthood.
•2007 - Romney said abortion law should be a state by state issue and that he would do nothing on the Federal level.

Okay, let’s fast forward to today. Mitt Romney refused to sign the Susan B. Anthony foundation’s Pro-Life Presidential Pledge. Instead he wrote his own personal pledge that said this:

"As much as I share the goals of the Susan B. Anthony List, its well-meaning pledge is overly broad and would have unintended consequences. That is why I could not sign it. It is one thing to end federal funding for an organization like Planned Parenthood; it is entirely another to end all federal funding for thousands of hospitals across America. That is precisely what the pledge would demand and require of a president who signed it.

The pledge also unduly burdens a president’s ability to appoint the most qualified individuals to a broad array of key positions in the federal government. I would expect every one of my appointees to carry out my policies on abortion and every other issue, irrespective of their personal views."

The killing of innocent life is an important enough issue to demand a firm stance on, and Romney simply hasn’t delivered. I am glad to see that Romney made some kind of a pledge. However, his spotty record makes me worry that his pledge may just be so much hot air. A true conservative would take a bold stance on the issue of abortion, but Romney is no conservative. His record shows it time and time again. Mitt Romney is a liberal.

Until conservatives realize there has to be only one strong candidate in the GOP primaries, we will keep getting the same liberal A-hole candidates.

Allow me to start off with the face that I am not a Romney fan. Romney does seem to be the Republican candidate however and at this point we either get behind him by looking for redeeming values or we re-elect Obama. By posting these articles and garnering popular bashing in the comments, we are delivering wheelbarrows of rocks to our opposition in the fall election. I guess for the rabid Romney-haters, Obama is better than Romney. What will you do if Romney becomes the candidate? Will you continue to bash him, refuse to vote and shove your head in the sand until the 2016 election? Are you so sure that with another term of office for Obama that the United States can survive until 2016? I think this election is for the very survival of the United States and Romney, while not perfect, is vastly better than Obama.

“What will you do if Romney becomes the candidate? Will you continue to bash him”

I asked SoConPubbie that very same question and “yes” was the answer that came back. Come August 27th when the convention in Tampa opens, IMO if SoConPubbie is still flooding FR with anti-GOP ticket post then he becomes nothing less than a reelect Obama activist, working FR.

While this may be true. Are you all going to let Obama win re-election? Romney is looking like the republicant nominee. I would vote for him 100 times out of 100 rather than to let obama get re-elected.

What if the GOP forced a candidate on the people and no one showed up? Guess we’ll find out shortly.

Have you, honestly, done any research on the guy? His background? His foundational beliefs? Tell me honestly, if you've put any effort into this.

If so, you know he doesn't stand a chance.

Anyone saying they'll vote for romney is being completely dishonest about having looked into the guy's background.

He's a disaster and I will have nothing to do with him whatsoever.

If Romney is the nominee, YOU are letting Obama win re-election.

Romney, with his left-wing, Progressive Liberal record, is the only candidate guaranteed to give Obama the win, in fact, you can honestly say this is the only thing inevitable about Romney.

You tell me why the left-wing MSM, totally in the tank for Obama, will not use this record of Romney to absolutely destroy his candidacy:

1. Implemented Gay Marriage (Father of Gay Marriage in America)
2. Supported Abortion.
3. Implemented state level cap-and-trade Carbon trading system
4. Implemented a state-level "Assault Weapons" Ban AFTER the federal AWB was allowed to expire.
5. Whole-Heartedly Supported the Gay Agenda while Governor.
6. Whole-Heartedly supported the Abortion Agenda while Governor
7. Supported the Brady Bill.
8. Supported McCain-Kennedy (Amnesty)
9. Supported TARP
10. Implemented a Socialistic Healthcare program called RomneyCare that included an individual mandate and $50 abortions. 11. Increased Taxes/Fees by 300% as Governor.

Add to that his constant lying and bearing false witness against the actual conservatives in the race and all you have is a recipe for electoral disaster come November if Romney is the nominee.

Anybody who thinks that the left-wing MSM has not been salivating at the prospect of facing off against Romney and that they don't already a myriad of hit-pieces against Romney piled up and ready to go is a political neophyte.

Furthermore, the only people helping Obama win re-election are those pimping such a sure-fired left-wing, progressive Liberal like Mitt Romney.

If he wins the nomination, we lose the election, because the left-wing Media is not goint to be bashful of using the following Mitt ROmney record against him like a baseball bat to bludgeon his candidacy into a bloody pulp:

1. Implemented Gay Marriage (Father of Gay Marriage in America)
2. Supported Abortion.

My God, do you people think it’s just about the person behind the Resolute desk? Don’t you give the Presidents cabinet, advisors, and those that influence him any thought at all? Does the names Bill Ayers, George Soros, Cass Sunstein, Van Jones, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and the rest of the shadow communist radicals Obama surrounds himself with and admires mean anything to you? Instead of asking who is worse Obama or Romney, start thinking about who else we invite in to help steer this ship for the next four years.

I already had my chance to vote. I did. I can’t do much more than wait and see. You are missing my point. I don’t like Romney any more than the next FReeper, trust me. But again I would vote for him in a heartbeat over the “won”.

Missed my point. I guess you like Obama then? You must if you are going to either not vote Rommey, vote for another guy other than obama, or not vote at all.
Enjoy your conservative utopia wherever that might be I guess.
Yes, effort has been put in. Don’t like Romney one bit.

I didn't miss your point at all and I don't think you missed mine.

They only ones hastening an Obama re-election are those pimping Mitt Romney in either the primaries or the general.

He is the only candidate guaranteed to give Obama a re-election win because of his left-wing, Progressive Liberal record.

That record will be used by the MSM and Obama to utterly destroy Mitt Romney's candidacy if he is the nominee.
