Santorum suspends campaign, but “we are not done fighting” to defeat Obama
Michelle Malkin ^ | 4/10/12 | Michelle Malkin

Rick Santorum fought hard, he fought well, and he gave voice to a large contingent of grass-roots conservative activists across the country who wanted a candidate who lived the values he preached. He held Mitt Romney’s feet to the fire on health care, challenged Newt Gingrich’s green flirtations and past support for the individual mandate, and took on Ron Paul’s foreign policy extremism. His presence improved everyone else’s game — and that will serve the GOP ticket well this fall, whoever ends up on it.

“Neither Jesus Christ nor Ronald Reagan will be on the ballot in November, yet nobody here recognizes America’s first priority is getting Obama out of the White House.”

NO, NO, NO - NOT if is Romney running. He is NO BETTER than Obama and may be worse. The “FIRST PRIORITY” was and must be getting a conservative nominee from the GOP that can contrast against Obama and actually beat him, and be a REAL difference than him. Romney has ALREADY LOST. This life long Republican won’t vote for him. First time I have done this. I have voted for EVERY GOP nominee since Ford in 1976....but I WON’T vote for Romney....NEVER! I’m convinced a SIGNIFICANT group agree with me. Romney cannot win....and I certainly won’t help him.

That DOES NOT make me a “de facto” supporter of the Obamination. It makes me a principled conservative that has had enough of the GOP picking psuedo-conservatives.

No, Rick determined he efforts were destined to fall short and decided not to pursue further what is not to be.

Rick beat the odds to get as far as he did, and he went out with grace and integrity. Well done.

“The Conservatives NEED to get behind a single candidate before the primary begins. “

Brilliant idea. NEVER happens. Every cycle I warn about the same thing, and every time the conservative splits into these separate warring camps for their ‘one true conservative’ (the RonPaulites are the worst, having gotten convinced that onely RonPaul is the OneTrueSavior and all the rest are a bunch of rotten tomatoes).

This year we had bitter Cain/ Bachmann / Newt / Perry / Santorum tussles ... waste of time.

“Malkin hates Newt so much she just cant’ stop attacking him”

When Newt attacked Romney from the LEFT on immigration, down in Florida, and exposed his open borders por-amnesty leanings, it ticked me off. (Remember, this was Newt calling Romne anti-hispanic for daring to suggest that enforcing the immigration law was okay if it led to ‘attrition’ of illegals).

Malkin hates open borders, and I’m sure newt’s 3 marriages dont sit well with her, and they are troulbing to a lot of conservative women who’d like our standard bearers to live up to what they preach.

This is all water under the bridge.
Romney will win the nomination.

How many of you Mitt hating zombies are out there?

How do you manage to convince yourself that Obama’s planned destruction of America, could possibly be matched by anybody?

Santorum’s slogan and program, as I read them, was “Bad Things Are Wrong!”, that’s all, nothing more.

“How many of you Mitt hating zombies are out there?”

IF you mean how many Principled Conservatives that don’t act like dumb sheep before a GOP leadership that disdains us...I would guess quite a few. Certainly enough to destroy Romney. Even IF he remotely had a chance to begin with. That is a big IF.

I wonder how many “mindless” and “souless” persons there out there that will vote for Romney knowing he is worthless to conservatives? How many are deluded themselves with the “lesser of two evil” argument, while there is no “lesser” evil? How many unwittingly want the GOP to become a minority party because it ignores the base that keeps it afloat since Ronald Reagan?

You have only 1 decision:

Defeat Obama or NOT?

Where are YOU going to take your “principled conservatism”?

With Obama there will be no “Republican Party” to reform or replace.
Because there will be no America!

What constructive action are YOU going to take with your delusion about some 3rd alternative.

Rick is not going to be the VP nominee, which in some measure seems to have been his plan.

Since that’s not going to happen, Santorum should right now throw his organization, people and votes 100% and without any ambiguity behind Gingrich in a public, out in the open effort to drive a brokered convention.

It’s a valid result, and if the two of them work together, making it a stated goal - voters could understand and rally behind it. It’s a very Tea Party sort of idea.

ya....FReepers should take their ball and go home.

Neither Jesus Christ nor Ronald Reagan will be on the ballot in November, yet nobody here recognizes America’s first priority is getting Obama out of the White House.

-I am quite aware there is no conservative running in this race, that is the problem, there hasn’t been one since 1984. If you seriously think Romney is a conservative then I question if you know what a conservative is. I wasn’t expecting a 100% perfect candidate—NEVER HAVE, but Romney isn’t even in the 20% realm of conservative, his record bears this out clearly.

-As for taking our ball and going home, you and the other Party Boys better be on your knees praying we don’t or you lose—you lose the White House and possibly the congress.

-And seriously the Party gives us the finger, talks down to and treats conservatives like second class citizens, ridicules and mocks and then expects us to fall in line, work the polls, campaign for your candidate and support them financially and vote for another one of your liberal schmucks again, having learned nothing from McCain?

Barring an major economic upheaval between now and November Romney loses the election and the GOP Party pukes and liberals will be on here and everywhere else whining and it will of course be the conservative bases fault.

If you lose 5-10% of the bases vote you lose period. As I said you had best pray we don’t take our ball and go home.

“What constructive action are YOU going to take with your delusion about some 3rd alternative.”

My constructive action will be to NOT support a phoney Mitt Romney. It doesn’t help conservatism.

Also, Jim Robinson has been clear on this point.

STOP BERATING PERSONS THAT REFUSE TO SUPPORT ROMENY!

Take you dumb sheep thinking elsewhere.

-I have not ruled out voting for Romney but right now I would have to say odds are I vote third party. I am thoroughly disgusted with the Republican party. They left me much the way the Democrats left Reagan marching continually to the left flank.

-Now I am told that at the very least I should vote for Romney because he is not Obama, really, that is supposed to bring me to the polls for this slicked up, double talking used car salesman?

-Doesn’t matter to me how you vote do what your conscience can live with but the days of me blindly supporting the Republican candidate no matter what their views are over.

With the thought anybody but obama being the measure of success?

I hope you are right, but right now I don’t see anyway Romney wins. I know conservatives who have voted straight Republican tickets since 64 who are sitting this one out.

I had to talk my wife, a life long conservative republican into voting for McCain(the only reason he got my vote was the vain hope of a conservative SCOTUS nominee) last time around and had Palin not been on the ticket she wouldn’t have voted for the (R’s) then as she see’s them as utter sellouts and holds Romney in complete disdain.

“What are YOU doing to defeat Obama?”

Obama himself is merely the putrifaction that is obvious. He is NOT the root disease. Eliminating Obama won’t fix anything. The only potential fix is getting a conservative elected. Romeny is not the person...not even in the remotest sense...he is just a GOP Obama.

So, what am I doing to defeat Obama? I am setting my sights higher than Obama. I want to defeat what he represents. Therefore, I will hold out for a solid conservative - NO Romney and a reformation of the GOP or a new party. That is how I will EVENTUALLY defeat what Obama stands for. Voting for a Country Club liberal GOP cultest from Mass. is doing NOTHING to defeat what Obama stands for. I’m going for the root and ignoring the obvious growth (Obama and his minions). Destroy the root, will real conservatives, and you destroy Obama and his ilk.

We have a good GOP congresswoman in our district...I will help her. We have a rascal liberal Dem Senator that needs removal....I will help with that. I’m not going to waste any time helping Romney under the false hope that he will eliminate what Obama stands for. Just ain’t gonna happen.

Why do you ignore the fact that there won’t BE a “next time”, if Obama is elected?
Obama will have a packed Supreme Court and AG that will allow him to do anything he wants, irrespective of the will of Congress or the people.
America, the Constitution, free enterprise, our national defense, will all be gone.
Elections will be a Soviet style charade.
So your “good GOP Congresscritter will sit there and get walked on, for as long as she lasts.
But thanks for sticking up for conservatism....it’ll make a great epitaph....

“Obama will have a packed Supreme Court and AG that will allow him to do anything he wants, irrespective of the will of Congress or the people.”

You over estimate his ability to mess with the courts further, plus you fail to realize that Romney will pick, at best, the equivalent of a David Souter. Not much difference at the end of the day. Look at Romney’s history on judicial appointments while in Mass. Not a pretty picture.

I understand your fear, but it just isn’t that bad of a situation that you need to vote for a sell-out (and horrible tainted) candidate that DOES NOT represent the Conservative Republican Base. WORK HARD on getting coservative Senators...not just those with an R by their name. That is how to stop Obama’s judicial threat.

Also, he made an ass out of himself in public in the way his lawyers attacked the Judicial branch. They spanked the AG hard over that. He is in check and will remain so. Romney will get a knee jerk yes vote from GOP senators and is liable to foist some really bad appointments unopposed. Nope, your arguement, I understood, just doesn’t really stand close scrutiny.

You are too timid. Tough situations, like a GOP Establish Tyranny, require tough actions. Romney needs his legs cut out from under him by conservatives. That message will resonate for years....and may unseat GOP establishment tyrants.
