It was the swastika and the word “Jew” together that conveyed the message - and the message was disgusting.
Together, they could justifiably be seen as a death threat.
Suppose someone wrote “Christian” and below that a crescent and star, and then the words “Islam will drain your blood and the blood of your children, Infidel!”?
The public/media outcry may not be the same, probably call it a “youthful prank”, but you might get a sense of what this fammily felt.
I'd hope to hell that they got all the way down the road
past the bearded tire-burning hillbillies and the deaf old
man across the road that shoots snakes and hollers about it.
Why? Because I could use the entertainment.
