Skip to comments.Trayvon Martin: Attorneys say Zimmerman contacted prosecutor, Sean Hannity
Posted on 04/10/2012 5:15:23 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet
The two men who have been George Zimmerman's most outspoken defenders, attorneys Hal Uhrig and Craig Sonner, said today that they're off the case.
"On Sunday, we lost track of George, in that he would not return our calls," attorney Uhrig said. Said attorney Craig Sonner, "I've lost contact with him at this point."
The lawyers had been publicly representing Zimmerman, the Neighborhood Watch volunteer who fatally shot 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, in the media as calls for his arrest continue to grow.
But they said Tuesday that Zimmerman who, they say, has left the state has stopped answering their phone calls, and has made a series of decisions that the two lawyers would not have advised.
The lawyers said Zimmerman called Sean Hannity of Fox News without consulting them. He also called the special prosecutor in the case, something the attorneys said they'd never have told him to do.
"We were a bit astonished," Uhrig said. He praised Special Prosecutor Angela Corey's office for declining to speak with Zimmerman without legal counsel.
Asked about Hannity's interactions with Zimmerman, a Fox News Channel spokeswoman said the issue "will be addressed on Hannity's show tonight." The show, "Hannity," airs at 9 p.m.
Uhrig added that he thinks Zimmerman is going through post-traumatic stress and is "largely alone...

He really needs to listen to counsel.
Is this still the United States of America?
Don’t push me, I’m thinking.
Hannity hasnt said squat. But z should keep his mouth shut. No website or anything else..
The pressure must be very intense on Zimmerman. Think I’d make a run for the border to Canada or Mexico. Do Americans ever sneak across the border into Mexico?
It has already been reported that he is a democrat. He is obviously, at the very least, naive.
Capt. Zimmerman needs to file suit against these lawyers for breaking attorney-client privilege. .
He has a contract out on him, I’d be a flight risk too.
Yes he needs to listen to counsel, how many people would handle this properly with the entire MSM gunning for you. Not to mention the black cats.
You know darn well that blacks will assassinate him.
With all the death threats and hysteria... why is no one CONCERNED that he can’t be found and quitting his case instead of worrying something horrible has happened to him???
“He really needs to listen to counsel.”
God, no kidding.
“Capt. Zimmerman needs to file suit against these lawyers for breaking attorney-client privilege.”
What privilege did they break? They said absolutely nothing about the case; they divulged nothing that Zimmerman had told them. They just said that under the circumstances they are no longer representing him.
Have you ever listened to Marty Robbins' "Meet me Tonight in Laredo"?
Meet me tonight in Laredo wait till the moon`s hanging low
Meet me tonight in Laredo we`ll soon be in old Mexico
It is a beautiful song
When the website came out yesterday I knew something was up - now I know - he cut himself off from counsel.
The attorneys cast Zim in a bad light. They should keep their traps shut. Like the attorney who interviewed GI Bales (the Rambo in Afghanistan who went on solo night raid) right after lawyer comes out of confidential interview he holds a press conference and says, “My client has no recollection or memory of that night”. Oh swell. Give the prosecution a huge advantage. Take away your cleint’s side of story if he ever regains his memory. Some things you shut up about. There is no tactical advantage. Just decision to feel important and play to cameras. The Judge Ito Subdrome. “Look at me, the cameras like me, they really like me.”
Isn’t he Peruvian on his mother’s side? Wouldn’t he be a citizen of Peru? What’s to stop him from leaving?
Perhaps George Zimmerman has already been cleared, and is getting the heck out of Dodge before the special prosecutor holds her press conference in three days. It’s a shame he has to hide, but I don’t blame him.
I agree with you that the comments were not wise, since — as you pointed out — what they did say did not help Zimmerman. Still, there was no violation of the attorney-client privilege as they said nothing about the case. They should simply have issued a release saying they were no longer representing Zimmerman and left it at that.
Yes, his mother is Peruvian and his father is Jewish.
He could go to Peru and fit right in without anyone noticing him!
Some guy jumps him beats the crap out of him and has to kill him
There a bounty and lynch mob out to kill him and the government does nothing..in fact seem to be encouraging it...
Zimmerman was a kind of mushy Obama supporting lib who now see himself portrayed as the grand dragon on the KKK....
I think the guy is a bit stressed and his world view crushed
Bottom line if one of the mob doesn't kill him he will end up killing himself
And the press and president will say nothing other then if he kill himself they will say in shows guilt...
and if Zimmerman is the kind of a mushy Obama supporting lib I think he might be...he will soon convince himself he is guilt because his hero's say so
This will end bad...and this is just the start of a lot of very bad ending in Obama's America...We will have Hardcore PC seen in most dictatorships...
puts up a website to raise funds, then no contact with attorneys.
Perhaps he needs $$ to get out of the country. Can't say I blame him. When a public bounty his put on your head, and no one does anything, kinda tells you where we are these days. I'd be looking for an underground railroad outta here.
There’s a difference between saying Zimmerman DID not return calls, and he “WOULD” not return calls, which implies the lawyers know he received the calls and was making a deliberate decision not the call back.
- How can they possibly know this without speaking with him?
- While it makes Zimmerman sound worse, it gives a the lawyers an excuse for dropping their client (it wouldn’t sound that good if they dropped him because he DID not return their calls).
Anyway, assuming that the only thing they know is that Zimmerman did not return their calls, I don’t think I’m being too picky with words by saying they should not have said he “would” not return their calls. Am I?
The New Black Panthers have been calling Zimmerman a Jew but is there any evidence that he is of Jewish descent? The name Zimmerman(n) is sometimes Jewish, sometimes not. This Zimmerman is a Catholic by religion. He has a brother who is a “Jr.” and his father is still alive—I believe the custom among Ashkenazi Jews is not to name a child after a living relative.
If the local prosecutor doesn't bring charges, Holder could bring some kind of "civil rights violation" case against him just to make him appear in public so he can be targeted for assassination. After Waco and Elian, I wouldn't put anything past a Democrat Attorney General.
"Zimmerman really should listen to counsel".......??????
Maybe he IS listening to and following orders from counsel right now, just not THESE two blabbermouth clowns.
We don't know WHY George is no longer communicating with these guys....maybe for good reason.
We fault the media for jumping to conclusions...let's not jump all over Zimmerman when we DON'T KNOW what's been coming down between him and his former counsellors the past 48 hours or so.
At a critical time in the very life and breath of George Zimmerman who may be in deep hiding, these two sterling representatives of the Bar are out in front of the mikes doing everything to blab away for their OWN benefit, not for the benefit of and to protect a former client and a human being who may be in desperate circumstances.
Great ethics, guys, great ethics. I think they're ticked that a golden opportunity for ongoing national fame and resultant fortune has just slipped out of their hands.
Holder will prosecute if small town America doesn’t. Zimm is screwed.
He probably wouldn’t live to be prosecuted.
I also wonder if he’s been cleared and is in some type of protective program, like witness protection.
I have thought that too.
Holder has signed his death warrent by doing nothing. He should be prosecuted before Zimm!
warrant, that is..
From everything I have read Zimmerman’s father is Jewish. If he is not observant in any way to Jewish customs and traditions then he would follow his mother’s religion which is Catholic.
You’re kidding? Just how did they violate the attorney-client privilege? They gave no details or even discussed Zimmerman’s case.
They said they’d lost contact with him, and since breaking off communication, Zimmerman has made two serious public communications errors for someone in his position. They are withdrawing. That becomes a matter of public record the second the withdrawal motion is filed in the court. No attorney-client privilege involved.
These lawyers are violating the attorney client privilege. If a client does not follow the advice of his lawyer, the lawyer cannot then go on national television and announce it to the world. They are duty bound not to reveal what their advice was and not to reveal whether or not their client took their advice.
These Bozos should have their licenses to practice law suspended.
The interesting thing about Mr. Zimmerman is that he identifies as a minority tribal member of the perferred and celebrated brown color and hence, votes for the anti-whitey Demonrat party. Black Race hate is all fun and games until it spins out of control and comes after you.
Given how he’s been racially and politically indoctrinated, why would he trust these real racists he has encounterd, to give him a fair trail. I might try to escape if I were him, too. It’s not real smart in American-American reality; but he has been shoved into the mentality of socialist tribalism. He’s been indoctrinated as a foreign race man rather than an American-American white man who knows a thing or two about the criminal justice system of the constitution.
I bet his socialist father, the Dem. judge legal activist, is not capable of helping him think outside the box of political correctness.
Ever seen this?
Dont Talk to Police
At this point there is no "case". By publicly revealing that Zimmerman is not following their advice and then publicly revealing that he is not returning their calls, they are revealing privileged information and prejudicing their client's interests. They were ethically bound not to say anything to anyone about anything without their client's permission. Obviously this public announcement was not authorized by Zimmerman.
I have, thanks, but keep posting this!
Yes, I have seen that video. It’s quite informative. Everyone should watch it.
Here’s another good one.
The RIGHT Way to Handle a Police Stop
I get the feeling Zimmerman is throwing himself on the knife out of pressure and feelings of guilt thus his contact with the prosecutor. Absolutely disgusting to drive the guy to that when most likely he was a victim of what can only be described as a mugging. Just think: He’s getting more hate, more threats, more protests against him than Casey Anthony. But that’s liberals for you. Cop killers like Mumia Abu Jamal are heroes to them. Vermin like Stanley Tookie Smith they consider legends. But a guy who defends his life must be lynched.
he'll never get away with it, being a white-hispanic ya know...
What does that say about our country and our justice system?
When a group can put out a bounty on someone's head and our justice system refuses to prosecute them - we're not much different from Africa or some other third world country.
I don't even have to consider that one of our GOP presidential candidates pronounced him guilty of murder.
What kind of attorney doesn't meet with his client after all this time?
I'd get a better attorney, stay out of sight, and if I needed money have someone else solicit it, not me. And STFU!
As with other professionals, the attorney-client privilege belongs to the client. In the eyes of the law, the confidentiality privilege between pastor and parishoner belongs to the parishoner and not to the pastor. Despite any vows or pledges made by the professionals, they are not the ones in charge. If a legitimate privilege exists, then it cannot be violated by the professional. In this case, that’s the client, Zimmerman.
That is true even if he releases them from their part in his case. That is true until the point he specifically releases them to speak freely.
For one thing they speculated about their clients mental state on national television. The mere fact they held a news conference to announce their departure was an ethical breech.
