Another two of Santorum’s delegates were Republican National Committee superdelegates, who will attend the convention by virtue of their positions in the party, and are also free to support whomever they choose in Tampa.

What if Santorum endorses Newt?
I would pass out if that happens.I just dont see santorum doing that however I could see and expect santorum to endorse romney.This thing has fix all over it.
That is what he should do since Romney has Romneycare and began the conversational marriage bill in Massachusetts. It would hurt Romney in the other states.
He actually had more delegates than the official count. I hope he holds them and doesn’t release the. A suspended candidacy is still a candidacy, legally.

CNN is saying that Santorum’s advisor say’s Rick will “rally behind Romney.”
Looks like Newt is on his own to garner the support himself, without Santorum’s help.
So the question still remains. What happens to the delegates?

Newt is busy personally reaching out to delegates, so if his stealth plan is underway, then, yes, he can do the math on MO. Win, lose or draw, Newt is trying to get to convention with some firepower.

I’ll be shocked if Santorum supports Gingrich. Like you said though, he can’t maintain his conservative credibility if he backs Romney so that means he has to write off any future Presidential election campaigns if he backs Romney which means Romney will have to give him the VP spot to get his support. That’s probably been the plan ever since Florida.

next step is CD district conventions 4/21.
The Santorum “delegates” attending those conventions will end up supporting another candidate at that time. They are not going to vote for a “dropped out candidate”.
So Santorum will end up with few or Zero national delegates from MO.
Same thing in ME in May at their state convention .... Santorum will get few votes and ZERO national delegates.

The question boils down to this: Did the RNC properly allow the Republican Party of Florida to decree its primary a winner-take-all contest for Florida delegates? Or should Florida's 50 delegates in fact be divvied up proportionally by each candidate's share of the primary vote?

RS has not released his delegates. So he can keep them for the first ballot or release them.
He cannot order them to vote for somebody else. He can suggest it, but not force them. (I doubt he will even be in the convention hall during the roll call ... he has no authority over them.)
MO delegates will all go to Romney. Gingrich blew off the primary and faired very poorly in the caucus. He has zero chance of picking any of them up.

I think that’s because Mitt didn’t typically win caucuses, only primaries. The caucus delegates tend to be non-committed, so unfortunately for Rick, that was one of his problems.

Rudy Giuliani is pretty good on fiscal matters and foreign policy, but is horrible on social issues. Most conservatives agree that Rudy would be as unacceptable to us as Romney. So why is Rick Santorum, who is pretty good on social issues and foreign policy, but is horrible on fiscal matters, supposed to be acceptable to us?
Conservatives should not be called upon to betray our friends and allied constituencies. We shouldn’t be stabbing SoCons in the back, we shouldn’t be stabbing the Club for Growth guys in the back, and we shouldn’t be stabbing the foreign policy conservatives in the back. Everything is important, and compromising is what’s splitting conservatives. We shouldn’t be ranking issues! It’s not unreasonable to expect someone to be acceptably conservative on everything.
We stop RINOs when we stop fighting each other. And picking divisive candidates that isolate chunks of conservatives is responsible for the in-fighting - not failing to rally around a partial conservative to stop the RINO.

I think the underlying issue in Florida was that Florida already lost half of its votes because they moved the primary up.
What the Florida GOP should have done is change to a WTA at the same time they moved it up, but they didn’t do it. Hindsight is 20/20
