It depends on how many Santorum supporters Newt can pick up. The conservative vote was well split between the two of them and as a result Romney now has quite a head of steam. These things are based on traction and impetus - already many conservatives are losing heart, seeing Romney's nomination as almost a certainty.

It isnt over yet, but it will be unless Conservatives rally round and ensure a couple of big wins for Gingrich. And soon.

There is no rational argument for Santorum's crowd to not support Newt.

Having said that, I'm sure there's someone amongst Conservatives who will try.
