Not necessarily. If they don't charge Zimmerman then riots are likely, with innocents hurt and maybe killed. And Zimmerman himself will be a dead man walking, with thousands of street thugs in competition to kill him first (for a HUGE street cred.)
Alternatively, they can charge Zimmerman with murder - a crime that requires intent to kill. Here is what Wikipedia says:
The prosecution would have to prove that Zimmerman had intent to kill. It'd be hard to do, considering that Zimmerman was on the phone with police all the time, and that he didn't know anything about Trayvon, and had no reason whatsoever to kill anyone at all.
If the prosecution fails to prove its case then Zimmerman will be acquitted of the charge. Charging him with a lesser crime is actually more dangerous for Zimmerman. What is certain, though, is that he will be behind bars for a while. The black community will be mollified by the seriousness of the charge. By the trial's time the situation will be more under control.
Don’t count on it.
I could not disagree more. Had this fallen into some hole of eternal 'investigation' something else would have taken it's place in the news cycle in short order.
Charging him, if there's not some very damning evidence not known about, means he'll be found not guilty and then hang on to your hats. Sides have been chosen over this situation in a much bigger way than they were during the Rodney King issue.
In today's America, where evil is called good and good is called evil, Zimmerman is already guilty of the most heinous crime possible! SDWW (self-defense while white). He will never beat this rap. Even Holder has said that if there is not a conviction, the (in)Justice Dept will go after Zimmerman on hate crime charges & violation of civil rights.
Zimmerman is already sentenced & in prison for life, make no mistake about it. I would put money on it!
The result of this is that Whites and Latinos will start to NEVER CALL 911. The cops lose and so will lots of other young blacks, because there will be no PERSON OF INTEREST the cops will throw in jail......in fact, they may start finding it difficult to find the bodies.
That does make sense. I can see how it would help Zimmerman (provided of course he’s proven innocent which is what the evidence or lack thereof as of now shows)because otherwise, sad as the circumstances may be....if he is never tried in a court of law he’ll have to watch his back forever.
