For the second time this week, the National Review has severed its ties with a contributor because of racism.
Over the weekend, it was John Derbyshire. Today, it's University of Illinois professor emeritus Robert Weissberg.
"Unbeknowst to us, occasional Phi Beta Cons contributor Robert Weissberg (whose book was published a few years ago by Transaction) participated in an American Renaissance conference where he delivered a noxious talk about the future of white nationalism," editor Rich Lowry wrote in a post on the National Review's website. "He will no longer be posting here. Thanks to those who brought it to our attention."
Weissberg spoke at the conference about "viable alternatives" to white nationalism, including the creation of "Whitopias," according to the American Renaissance website.
"Prof. Weissberg went on to argue that liberals are beyond reason when it comes to race, that explaining the facts of IQ or the necessity of racial consciousness for whites "is like trying to explain to an eight-year-old why sex is more fun than chocolate ice cream."
Is Lowry aiming to join the Obama press corpse?
Regarding race issues he is a whack job, but regarding liberals, he is pretty accurate as a snob talk to liberal snobs. If a liberal promotes emotional racism or reverse racism, why is it oriented towards PC trash? Most liberals are actually secretly worshiping Hitler ideal types in looks, so long it is on the plantation of retardation and it is not liable to embarass by exposing its stupid behavior.
How in heck can you be fired today, for something you said 12 years ago!?
It’s the age of Obama.
No, it just seems like he’s being true to conservatism.
Is Lowry aiming to join the Obama press corpse?——
Seems to me he already did. The rest is just formalities.
2012 was not 12 years ago.
Yeah, and I will no longer be reading NRO until Rich Lowry is gone.
You got that right...Derb is so not a racist..his wife is Asian
NRO croaked when Bill Buckley (RIP) died... He knew how to fight...
Except that since then he said he was a racist.
Maybe you all personally don’t like Christians or pr0-lifers, but some conservatives fall into those groups. Derbyshire was very clear about how he felt about them.
I gave up on Rich Lowry during the 2008 election, when Lowry made the statement that a lot of conservatives were making the accusation that Obama is a socialist, but that he (Rich Lowry) saw no indication of that in any of Obama’s remarks or background.
He is either an idiot or a closet leftists, probably both.
Yep, you’d fit right in there. Why do you bother coming to a conservative site?
Buckley was called a racist all the time... Derb is being kind..
Steyn’s article on Derbyshire was correct.
Racism, racialism, and related things such as hyper-nationalism, social darwinism, and biological determinism are not conservative ideas. They are left-wing views and it is not surprising that Derbyshire held other left-wing views.
Ann Coulter had Lowry’s number some years back.
He’s a pu$$y.
Nick, is Charles Murray a racist? I just finished “Coming Apart,” and found it a brilliant analysis of America’s social scene. Well, it tracks VERY heavily toward IQ, which is to say, race. Are these issues not even debatable?
