Chicopee Police and Massachusetts State Police have streets blocked in Downtown Chicopee after a state trooper was shot during an ongoing standoff.
Mayor Michael Bissonnette told 22News that a state trooper was wounded in the shooting, shot in the hands and the legs, though his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center.
The Mayor told 22News that the suspect has holed himself up inside an apartment building near West and Center Streets. Chicopee, Springfield, and State Police are trying to resolve the standoff right now. At one point during the standoff, he had taken an eight year-old boy hostage, but the boy has since been released.

We have to fire this clown.
Last night there were 5 cops shot in a standoff in New Hampshire. When I went to bed one of them was confirmed dead and the standoff was still ongoing.Gonna check a NH station’s website for more info.I hope the situation in Chicopee turns out well.
I don’t want to see anyone get hurt. That being said, I have long predicted that US citizens would eventally start shooting at government workers. It’s not right, but I think I know why someone might want to.
Getting shot in the Chicopee sounds like it hurts.
