Fans of Bo Xilai rally to ousted chief in China

HONG KONG With Chinas propaganda apparatus in overdrive as the Communist Party demolishes the reputation of one of its former stars, a few defiant and angry fans are sticking to their guns.
We support the Chongqing Model and Bo Xilai, declared a call to arms posted on the Web site of the Progress Society, a pugnacious new left fraternity that trumpets the ousted Chongqing Party boss as a hero. Its logo features a panda wearing a Mao cap and clutching a rifle in front of a Chinese flag.
Bo, who until just a few weeks ago had a shot at joining the supremely powerful nine-member Politburo Standing Committee, has now been stripped of all his posts and is under investigation for serious violations of discipline while his wife is in detention on suspicion of murdering a British business consultant.
Chinas new left is a disparate, volatile force, united only by a vague sense that the country has taken a wrong turn by pursuing economic growth above all else. From what I read, there were two factions at play in the leadership struggle. One, represented by Xi, was for continuity, for how things are now. The other, resurgent branch represented by Bo, was for reform, a return to the supposed rigid morality of the Mao years that was more nostalgic than real. In that sense, Bo was more important for what he represented to people than what he could or would have delivered. Xi’s faction has won, but if the economy and social conditions go bad in the years ahead, the fractures that this crisis has helped engender could have grave consequences for the future of China.
I would just LOVE to see another “Cultural Revolution” there set them back a few decades. It might buy us enough time to get our act together.
As a prepper, it’s almost seedless to say, but serious social turmoil over there WILL empty the shelves at Walmart (and Target, and many, many, other places). So be prepared if the S starts to hit the fan there...it won’t just be “Chinese Crap” that disappears, it will be just about everything that food that is impacted...and eventually food as the spare parts for the tractors run out.
