At least three possible tornadoes hit central Oklahoma early Saturday in a prelude to what forecasters warned could be a day of "life-threatening" storms in the nation's midsection. No injuries were immediately reported.

Department of Emergency Management official Michelann Ooten said the possible tornadoes were reported west and north of Oklahoma City. One was spotted near Piedmont, a small town where a twister last May killed several people.

The National Weather Service was working to confirm the reports.

Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Brown told The Associated Press the storms were fairly weak but still damaged some homes. A tornado that touched down Friday afternoon sent 10 people to the hospital with "bumps and bruises" and ripped through southwest Normal, ripping up telephone poles, shredding trees and ripping off rooftops, according to the Oklahoman.

I have an interior bath room..and have had to get covered in the tub only once in almost 20 years..No basements in Texas where I live. If it’s a big one I and my neighbors survive by the grace of God.
My son and his wife survived the 1979 F4/ some say F5 in Wichita Falls TX. Many did not.

Thanks for the correction and edification, M. I’m several years behind the exact terminology, out here.

Do you pull a sheet of 1” plywood over top, for cover in the tub? What do you use to cover with?

My daughter in law was 8 months pregnant..and barefoot when their roof blew off and their bedrm sliding door landed on their bed..They survived in the bathroom. furniture blew off never to be found..out the living room sliding door.
She told me of my son lifting debris looking for a pair of shoes for her after it was over..Shoes are important when you have to walk over debris.

That was an adventure. I was driving through Oklahoma City right at the height of last night’s storms.

Was on the 44 when the first tornado touched down south of me. On the 35 when the alerts said mile marker 130 was in effected area (as I drove past mile marker 130). Then on the 40 when the storm was north of me. So basically I snaked my semi around and through the storms.

Overnighted at the Flying J at exit 140. When I got there it was super nice and sunny, just outside the squall line basically. Around midnight it was torrential monsoon type rains. That didn’t help getting a good night’s sleep.

Now I’m in Brownwood TX south of that mess. Seems safe here, pretty windy but not like it was last night.
