Coward Romney did not even defend his wife this week

Personally I think the idea was to keep it going to keep him out of the news for a couple days.

Romney has ONLY 535 Hard Delegates after 30 states where he has only won 3 by popular vote, There are 899 More Hard Delegates to win. Romney averages only 44% . If enough people do not give up and continue voting NOT -ROMNEY we will have a Brokered convention. Last one we got a Regan and he only had 30% to Nixon’s overwhelming odds going in.

Romney would be an idiot to even consider this. He would probably end up in a skit showing him to be so unpresidential that I could see him being forced to stop his run for the presidency.

Who owns NBC? Not a conspiracy crazy or anything, but I could only guess where the idea of an invite might have originated...

If Phil Hartman were still with us, I’ll bet he could do a great Mitt Romney.

Yes, that was Laugh-In back in 1968. I was 12 years old. I loved the show and I loved Nixon. My family had bought our first color TV in the spring and I dug on watching Laugh-In and Star Trek in color.

and I, um, thought highly of Goldie Hawn....

I admired Nixon too, but not usually at the same time.

The only reason Romney “won” Michigan was an after the vote rule change to prevent Santorum from taking the same number of Delegates. It was so filthy that one of Romney’s own supporters (Former MI AG Mike Cox) voted against the change and called it a 3rd world type of election stunt.

He plans to play a wooden stool in a skit about watching paint dry.

“Give him a skit or two where he plays himself.”

ALL of them? I thought the show only lasted an hour?

He should be careful. A misstep on a program like this could haunt him forever

SNL is funny. It has always been funny. And the guy doing James Carville is hilarious. I understand Matalin and Carville think he is funny too.

There is very much a 1968 sort of feel to this election year, isn't there?

Just say NO.. Conservatives and majority Republicans don’t watch this “show”. Romney should take the high ground and stay away from SNL. Make THEM come to our worlsview.....

"SNL was never funny"

And I never could stand it. This just reinforces my opinion.

A stop at the show could be a good way for the former Massachusetts governor to boost his likeability ratings

...but will instead be another opportunity for the MSM to ridicule and belittle anything that might get in the way of Obama's re-election. I already knew Romney has no principles - I didn't realize he's also a fool.

“Sock it to me?”

lengthy article
September 19, 2010
The Comedy Writer That Helped Elect Richard M. Nixon by Kliph Nesteroff
blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2010/09/richard-nixons-laugh-in.html

“Nixon said ... that appearing on Laugh-In is what got him elected - and I believe that. And I’ve had to live with that.” - George Schlatter, Creator of Laugh-In

...The “sock it to me” bit in question was conceived for Laugh-In’s 1968-69 season premiere, less than two months before election day. “He would do anything to get elected,” says George Schlatter. “Paul Keyes convinced him that it was good for his image to appear in the midst of this kind of avalanche, this tsunami of youth and vitality.” Erickson explained that Nixon “showed up surrounded by his staff, whom he consulted about everything. Asked to say [Laugh-In catchphrase] ‘What’s a bippy?’ Nixon huddled with his entourage and decided against it - he didn’t know what ‘bippy’ meant, and really didn’t want to find out. Likewise vetoed was ‘Good Night, Dick.’ After much deliberation, ‘Sock it to me?’ was the one Dick Nixon finally approved.”...

... “Lena Horne once kicked me in the shin,” remembered Dick Martin. “[She] said, ‘You son of a b!tch, you elected that bastard!’ But we also offered the same thing to Hubert Humphrey a week later ... his adviser said no. He said to Humphrey - and I heard him say this, ‘They’ll end up throwing water on you.’ Like we’re gonna throw water on a f!!!ing presidential candidate. Absurd. That dumb son of a b!tch!”

They'll just hire Ted Danson instead.
