Disqualifications throw Egypt election into turmoil

The disqualification of several top presidential candidates would redraw Egypt's electoral map just ahead of next month's vote. Candidates say they'll appeal.

The race for the Egyptian presidency took a dramatic turn on Saturday when the authorities disqualified front-runners, including Hosni Mubarak's spy chief, a Muslim Brotherhood candidate, and a Salafi preacher whose lawyer warned that "a major crisis" was looming.

The presidential election is the climax of a transition to civilian rule being led by the military council that assumed power from Mubarak on Feb. 11, 2011, at the height of the uprising against his three decades in power.

The generals are due to hand power to the elected president on July 1.

I heard they couldnt produce birth certificates and a few had ties to domestic terrorists similar to the american terrorist Bill Ayers, they are taking a lesson from the USA and being careful to vett candidates who will not try to destroy their country

In fact, the main accusation which threatens the leading “Anti-American, ultraconservative” Islamist candidate “Sheik Hazem Salah Abu Ismail” is that his mother became an American citizen at some time before she died.

Reported evidence includes her name, “Aziz Nour” listed as a registered voter in Los Angeles County. Her apparent former address in Santa Monica is apparently now the location of her daughter Hanan Salah Abou Ismail, according to a April 4th article in the New York Times.

Ismail’s spokesman is claiming the registration may be a forgery.

If any Freepers want to help verify that the Anti-American Ismail is an ineligible hypocrite, copies of voter records can be accessed in Southern California, on the 2nd floor of the County Building at 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk CA 90650. http://www.lavote.net/

that Los Angeles county registrars office in Norwalk is where I personally witnessed voter fraud in the "early voting" at the 2008 presidential election

there were mobs of people bussed in daily for weeks standing in line getting multiple "provisional ballots" , no ID or registration required , just ask for a ballot and they hand it over to anyone in line. The lines had maybe five hundred people, it went from the second floor, down the stairs, across the courtyard, through the parking lot to the street Sheriffs were there for crowd control. I followed a guy out after voting and he got back in line and was bragging that it was his third vote for Obama that day
