On what grounds?

I imagine the family thinks they can do a civil case like the OJ matter. (at least their lawyers)

this is about reversing “stand your ground” tort reform in place. The brady lawyers are salivating.

Remember the cops who beat Rodney King. They were acquitted in the criminal case where the blacks decided to riot but then the Feds stepped in and charged civil right violations against the cops and they were found guilty in Federal Court and were sentenced to prison for almost 3 years.
