For nearly two months, George Zimmerman has been largely a cipher, a riddle whose voice has been heard only in 911 calls reporting a young man acting "real suspicious."
On Friday, the world learned more about Zimmerman as he, his wife and parents testified during a hearing in Sanford, Florida, to decide whether he would be released on bond while awaiting trial on a second-degree murder charge in the February 26 death of Trayvon Martin.
Zimmerman's wife depicted him as a man she has never seen angry. His father said he was a truthful man who had long been concerned with helping others. And his mother said he had organized a campaign to "get justice" for a homeless man who had been beaten in Sanford, as well as mentoring a 14-year-old African-American boy from a dangerous Orlando neighborhood.
Zimmerman has acknowledged killing Martin during an encounter in his Sanford neighborhood, saying he shot in self-defense. Critics have depicted the Hispanic neighborhood watch volunteer as a racist who profiled Martin because he was African-American.
His family said nothing could be further from the truth.
"I know that he is very protective of people, very protective of homeless people and also of children" -- regardless of their race, Gladys Zimmerman said in testimony meant to prove to Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. that Zimmerman would not be a threat to the community if allowed to leave jail while awaiting trial.
She said he has been a mentoring the 14-year-old for three years even though the program he had joined shut down after only nine months because of the economy.
She said she begged him not to go because of the danger.
"He said, 'Mom, if I don't go, they don't have nobody,'" Gladys Zimmerman said....

Could it be that the prosecution filed a sham charge just to quiet down the media and baiters? They certainly are not comfortable with the charge and basically gave up from the get go in today’s bond hearing.

The mighty Jerry Rivers opined on O’Reilly’s show that there is insufficient information to support a 2nd degree murder charge or conviction. The word must be circulating on the street in the “hispanic” community that one of their brothers is being railroaded. Maybe Rivers has picked up on something.
If you can find Anne Coulter segment of O’Rielly last night she does an excellent job of pointing out the real issue....2nd Amendment. She point out that the black is being used to further deny gun ownership. That historically the color of skin could keep you from getting a permit to carry. Mentioned ML King was denied even though his house was torched, and the more recent incident of the Chicago man who took his case to the SCOTUS.
I think that’s exactly what they did. They filed the charge— and took it up to 2nd degree murder precisely to placate the mobs. I don’t know if they can have manslaughter as a lesser included charge or not, in Florida. But they are probably counting on that as their escape from this madness. The facts just won’t support 2nd degree.
I thought the prosecutor really made a mistake today by getting too far ahead of himself with the “facts” of the case. Juries decide what the facts are, not prosecutors. He came off looking like a fool, and unprepared.
Could it be she is up for reelection and thought she'd get the benefit now even if she loses in court long after her reelection?
Has your local high school assigned students to research and write about this case? The liberal teachers obviously want to make kids come to the “right” conclusion, many of the kids paying no attention to news and stuff.

Chief investigator never looked at GZ’s medical records to verify the attack? He also stated they had no evidence as to who started the altercation.

Fla has strengthened many 2nd amendment rights and I doubt Zimmerman will be convicted.

The prosecutor in this case is full on irresponsible and if this case is dismissed b/c of stand your ground, she should be brought up on charges. (see nifong)

Even the comments on that CNN story are running about 10 to 1 for Zimmerman.

Wonder how many of will be surprised when a 6’3” stand up next to 5’8” Zimmerman. Look at O’Mara standing next to him. He’s about 6’ maybe a smidge more.
And only a week ago the media was telling us he reported a young man who "looked black". The media has had a full month of pounding a man who was in hiding and unable to defend himself. Now that he has a courtroom to defend himself in, we will see how accurate the media portrayal was, and this will be remembered.
That is a powerful photo. I am very familiar with the Trayvon portion and it’s context, but I am amazed at how effective mixing various other photos as you did, is, that shows skill and talent.

Lessee, GZ has called the 911 46 times for nothing. This call was for nothing, the kid was doing nothing wrong, yet to GZ that was suspicious. He has a violent past, unlike the child he killed, charged with assault on a police officer, etc. The only railroad was when police refused to arrest this hothead in the first place.
I’ve seen suspicious stuff. It is insane to get out of your car to confront anyone. Anyone else feel as I do? Dont worry about bucking the party line. This ain’t no Duke Lacrosse case. An innocent child is dead.

The grainy footage showed no injury to Z so he obviously is lying.
What load of crap. There has been eight burglaries in Zimmerman's neighbor in 15 months, all by black men. Would that make you a bit suspicious of a 6-2, hooded stranger loitering on the streets of your neighborhood?
And, you consider Trayvon an innocent child when he was on top of Zimmerman, beating him to the point he was bleeding profusely from the back of the head? Innocent, my ass. Zimmerman had every reason to believe his life was endangered and to act in self-defense.
And, the timeframe, based on the 911 calls, show the thuggie in a hoodie has plenty of time to get back to his father's fiancee's home once Zimmerman has lost track of him. He decided to be a tough guy and pick a fight with a man with a gun.

Already I can see where they’re starting to move away from the racism charges and starting to go after the stand your ground laws. If they can’t blame Zimmerman for the crime, they will blame it on the laws that they think allowed it to happen.
