Not bad but it's not a Mustang. Looks closer to a modern version of the derided "Mustang II" that was posted in #7.

Well, I’m with you, but why the Hell do they have to call it the Mustang?

The 1974 beige piece of crap with the tan colored plastic interior had more in common with the original Mustang than the nice looking car you posted.

Sheesh, they should call it something else.

If that's the car it's actually pretty cool looking.

What's up with those razor-thin side mirrors? The only way I can envision those working is if they actually contain a small back facing camera with some sort of associated display in the cockpit (which would actually be a pretty cool concept if no one has thought of using it before).

Looks like a fancy version of the new Fusion. You're right - it's not bad at all, but it's no more a Mustang than the Mazda-based Ford Probe almost was.

I predict that like the Probe, this gets offered alongside the Mustang.

That’s not the mustang. That was just a concept car for some of the ideas they are kicking around.

Thankx for posting the photo -- assuming your photo is correct, it looks like they're going to go with the Mazda 6/Fusion platform and running gear (which would make it either front-drive or Haldex AWD), and probably drop the Tremec manny tranny option, following their practice with the 2013 Fusion.

Current transmission options in the 2013 Fusion are manual available for the base engine only (which is intended for fleet sales, most of which would have slush pumps anyway). The upgrade 2.0-liter turbos get slushpumps only, and only the turbo engines will be mated with the available AWD. I expect that the Mustang would be the same; and the manual might be dropped entirely, on the rationale that "we aren't building cars anymore for old farts who know how to drive manuals: we're all about Obama-loving Gen Y s***heads now, that's where the money will be." (At least until Obozo and George Soros get through reproletarizing them, but the Ford guys don't know that yet.)

At some point, one would like to think, this Vichythink collaborationism and Obama triumphalism will pass out of vogue in the Ford suite and they'll go back to building real cars for car guys and other enthusiasts. But right now it appears they have their eyes firmly fixed on Big Bad Mack Daddy.
