Yes. They wanted the government to take care of their parents (so they did not have to) and themselves as well. My grandfather, born in 1907, never wanted anything from anyone and was proud of the fact he never got a dime from anyone.
BTW, I was in my teens in the 70s and could not vote yet. Im a baby boomer.

Microgood, I NEVER voted for any expansion of Government benefits in my entire lifetime. I’m not sure about you however. Shame on you for not taking care of your Parents, if that IS the case. NEVER lump me or anyone else into your guilt trip! Fact is most of this bull Sh@t happened when we were just trying to survive the seventies and eighties. So, KNOCK IT OFF PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
