Gingrich presses ahead amid reports of suspending campaign, huge debt

GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich said Saturday he will move forward with stops next week in North Carolina, following reports that events had been cancelled as a result of communication problems.

Wayne King, vice chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, said he got a call from Gingrich who personally told him campaign events are on for next week and that a schedule is forthcoming.

Reports that Gingrich -- whose campaign is deep in debt and trailing far behind Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney -- surfaced late Friday night when a source told Fox News the candidate’s scheduled campaign stops in North Carolina and elsewhere were "on hold."

The reports were confirmed by King.

However, Gingrich campaign spokesman R.C. Hammond said later that a "communication glitch" had led to the confusion.

"There was confusion, but we will maintain our North Carolina schedule next week," he told ABC News.

Yes, that’s exactly it. But every time you see something like this, go to newt.org and donate (anything, even $10) because that lets the campaign know that there’s still support. I just gave $50, but anybody who can give more should do so.

Most of his donations come from small donors, and I think that’s what’s keeping him alive with his few big donors, almost all of whom are non-institutional (such as the Adelson family).

If his campaign collapses, it won’t be because we haven’t tried.

This is getting scary! RNC establishment strategy: Publish no poll numbers; spread the word that Romney is the nominee; have people vote based on blackout and misinformation expecting Romney to win big; then hit hard with Romney’s wins and Newt’s losses to bully Newt into dropping.

Please do yourself the honor of reviewing actual polls by doing a Google search for “2012 Republican presidential polls (name state)” and you will see why the RNC is using this tactic. Then spread the word!

No, the headline is wrong. He’s not suspending his campaign and his debt is not drowning him. Fox just wants to make it seem that way - using that headline instead of saying what the article actually says: that reports of him skipping appearances were based on a miscommunication.

I rarely if at all watch fox news any more. I can't remember the last time I watched a show on that channel. Its just become too tiresome with them.

Same with the smudge report. I have not gone to that site in quite a while, and do not intend to go back.
