Her candidacy helps pierce the “big lie”, that Republicans do not have diversity in the party, and that the GOP represents mainly older white voters.
I’m surprised that it wasn’t bigger news in 2010, when we saw the election of Allen West and Tim Scott to Congress, both black Republicans.
In the same year, we saw the election of governors Nikki Haley of South Carolina, Susana Martinez of New Mexico, and Brian Sandoval of Nevada. Governor Haley is of Indian descent; her parents are Indians from India. Governors Martinez and Sandoval are Hispanic. And all are Republicans.
Add in others, such as Bobby Jindal and Marco Rubio, and we see that there is plenty of the diveristy in the Republican party, which the liberals don’t seem to see. This Republican diversity seldom seems to show up in the narrative in the MSM.
I agree. This is why I say our side can't pander, but must show that when we succeed, everybody wins. When the economy recovered from the mess that was Carternomics, everybody won. When the Cold War ended, everybody won. When Welfare Reform passed, everybody won.
