The chairman of Kent County's Republican Party says he's switching his support from Mitt Romney to Newt Gingrich.
Hans Reigle on Friday said he was throwing his support to the former House speaker because he "is the only candidate who has shown a willingness to meet and talk with Delaware voters for more than an hour." The defection comes before Delaware's primary on Tuesday.
Romney is all-but-certain to win the GOP's presidential nomination and the campaign has largely shifted to the head-to-head contest against President Barack Obama. Gingrich has refused to yield and has been campaigning in Delaware despite a seemingly impossible path to the nomination.
Romney leads with 685 delegates to Gingrich's 136. Gingrich notes that Romney has not yet reached the 1,144 delegates to officially win the nomination.

May this spread...
I pray and hope this is meaningful.
GO NEWT!
AHHH....that’s a Conneticutt flag
“May this spread...”
From your lips to God’s ears. We DO need a miracle right now.
OH GOSH. LOL.
It only takes a spark to get a fire going. I am hoping this is meaningful as well, becasue usually pols see which way the parade is heading and then they jump in front of it.
I’m ready to spark on Tuesday for Newt!
Newt was in my hometown of Georgetown, DE yesterday afternoon! He was also in Harrington, DE!
I was not there—was coming home from No. 1 son’s wedding which occurred in NJ on Friday.
Downstate, Newt is very popular and Romney is not. Upstate DE has a bunch of lib Republicans, but they have been kept on a short leash since the O’Donnell campaign.
A very good friend of mine was not interested in seeing Newt—even though we offered to take her to see him with us at two events this month.
So, he shows up in Georgetown yesterday afternoon and walking around he meets and talks with, of all people, our friend!!!!
She thought him very gracious and personable, not at all what she thought he was like.
He gave a short stump I realize Reagan did not get into the race until North Carolina’s primary in 1980. I am hoping that Newt can stay in all the way to Tampa, and this will be a whole new race.
Willard the Dull will be a disaster for us in the fall. He has fooled people long enough. It is time for him to be denied the nomination, and Newt to move forward to take on Obama.
Newt has done us the honor of coming to see Delawareans all over the state. Romney has about ignored us. I hope my fellow First Staters see that as well.
Newt to Tampa!!!
Thank you very much, dearest exit82!!!
Pinging some supporters to your post!
TO ALL: If you normally don’t vote in the primary, call your town or city office and ask for the phone number of whomever chooses the spot to vote on the primary.
I pray Newt turns the establishment on its head and the grassroots propel him to the nomination.
I pray Obama wins his nomination and the next day Sheriff Arpaio’s prosecutors obtain a grand jury indictment of fraud on Obama and all his accomplices.
Then I pray Newt is elected President and once in office sticks to his core conservative principles by holding the GOP Elite accountable for their abandonment of conservatives and gives them a choice to get and stay with the program or get out.
I pray President Gingrich will hold the Obama administration accountable for Fast & Furious and other criminal misdeeds. I pray he will rollback the egregious Executive Orders of Obama, repeal Obamacare and call for Congress to summon federal judges to appear and defend their judicial activism.
And I will pray for the full unvarnished bold bright colored conservative agenda to be displayed by President Gingrich and a GOP Conservative Congress.
I live out west in Nevada and feel we’re part of another country!! I’m sure Romney figures he has this state sewn up. Being a Christian among many Christian voters, I will tell you, they are ALL Newt people..It’s Newt or NO! The Lord guides us, not the RINO, rich elitists!

“She thought him very gracious and personable, not at all what she thought he was like.”
This is the result of the power of the media through negative advertising that Romney’s can buy, along with the bribes to key party officials and the complicity of democrat voters crossing over to vote for Romney in the GOP primaries.
If a brokered convention can be achieved by denying Romney the 1144 delegates necessary to cinch the nomination, then all the negative ads, bribe money and democrat interference is out of the way and the delegates are up for grabs in one-on-one floor speeches and Q & A ‘s direct with the candidates. This is where Newt can shine.
Newt says a win in DE will change the narrative. It’s possible he could win here & it’s possible it could change the narrative. Let’s vote, hope & pray.
Then that makes it even better! Go CT!
Great on-the-ground post!
My state has already voted, but I’m going to call tomorrow and see if I can do some phone work. Phone calls may seem antiquated, but they actually do help a candidate.
The TX primary is scheduled for May 29, but I’m sure that early voting starts any time now. I will proudly vote for Newt- and it’s been a long time since I could say that. (In ‘04 I voted for Palin, held my nose on McCain.)
