Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is hoping retail politics will make the inevitability of Mitt Romney's nomination a tough sell among Delaware's GOP voters.
The former House speaker is seeking an upset victory in Tuesday's presidential primary. That would lend credibility to his flagging campaign and his plans to help shape the Republican Party platform at its August convention in Florida.

I seem to remember him being a Castle supporter and Romney being a supporter of the Tea Party candidate Christine O’Donnell.
Now is seems that the tides have completely shifted the other direction.
Yep. Newt predicted that Mike Castle would win the Republican nomination in Delaware. Christine McDonnell won and Gingrich then supported her.

The PAC donated $5,125 to Marco Rubio.On the House side, his PAC donated $5,000 to Sean Bielat in his bid to unseat Barney Frank in Massachusetts. In the 2010 cycle, Romney’s PAC donated $639,304 to House Republican candidates and $159,995 to Senate Republican candidates. So far this cycle, it has donated $253,000 to House Republican candidates and $91,500 to Senate Republican candidates. In 2010, Romney’s PAC donated the maximum to 25 GOP candidates, and so far this cycle it donated the maximum to 120 candidates. The PAC donated the maximum to Michele Bachmann in the 2008 cycle and another $2,500 to her last cycle. He donated to Rick Perry’s reelection bid, too.
In governor’s races, Romney-affiliated PACs donated “$62,000 to then-gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley in South Carolina and $30,000 to then-gubernatorial candidate Terry Branstad in Iowa.” Was that an obvious effort to build up goodwill in early primary states? Sure. But I’m sure Haley and Branstad appreciated the cash infusion in their competitive races all the same. So was the $6,800 to Chris Christie’s bid.

Newt is getting my vote tomorrow, and the three delegates that support him.
It seems interesting that last year Gingrich was positioning himself as a more mainstream candidate (also thinking about his endorsement in NY23 of Dede Scozzafava), and the liberal Romney was attempting to position himself as the Tea Party candidate.
One year later, Newt is supported by the Tea Party. Romney on the other hand is supported by the establishment and the flaky Christine O’Donnell.

A friend of mine with law enforcement and military background spoke to me about the different levels of alertness. White is normal. Yellow is when you’re watchful because something might happen. Red is full-out combat. And black is total peace. We were discussing this in a Bible study so I asked him if the goal was black, total peace. He said the only time you hit black is if you and everything you thought worth fighting for is dead.
He said when you’re in the red zone, adrenaline sets in because you realize that only one side is going to come out alive - either you and all you love, or the enemy. With that knowledge and the adrenaline it brings you can do things not otherwise humanly possible, like lift a car by yourself.
At the time I was very depressed. My husband was mad at me for engaging in political stuff at all, and it was only when I explained to him that I was vacillating between red and black and that I was fighting in the political arena because if I didn’t I would go totally cold and black. At least if I was fighting I was still alive.
I’m not depressed like I was before. I am true RED. My kids’ future is worth fighting for. My faith and my freedom to practice it is worth fighting for. Lawful existence, where I can be friends with people regardless of what race either of us is.... is worth fighting for.
There are times I doubt whether we can ever go back to the America that existed before this full-on coup by this foreign enemy combatant in the White House and his puppet-masters, the communist-Islamist alliance. That is for God to decide; He knows when and how this world will end and it will be fine when it does. But in the meantime, love right here and right now is worth fighting for. It was worth my Savior dying the most cruel, humiliating death imagineable, and if He would give that for me and you, then how can I give less than my life for the same?
No matter how many people try to convince me it would be wiser to go black, I believe with all my heart that love is worth fighting for, here and now just as for eternity.
