I wonder how much it costs those tax filers who DO pay taxes. If it is like the United States double the cost per TAXPAYER since about half do not pay or get TAX REFUNDS without paying any income taxes.

We are slightly more sensible than that.

If you do not pay tax, you cannot get a refund. That is a bit of a no brainer and one aspect of your system that baffles us here in the UK.

As for paying taxes, if you are employed, it is taken out of your paycheck each week/month. No filing involved. Your employer does the accounts and sends the appropriate amount to Infernal Revenue. Me, I use a computer program that does all the calcs in under a minute and sets up the bank routing.

The only time you need to file is if you are self employed, the owner of a company, or have extra income outside of your main job.
