Florida city commission rejects police chief's resignation in Trayvon Martin case

The Sanford, Florida, City Commission decided Monday not to accept the proposed resignation of its embattled police chief, who has been under fire for the handling of the investigation into Trayvon Martin's death in February.

Chief Bill Lee has been on leave since March 22, a day after the commission expressed a lack of confidence in him for how he's handled the investigation. George Zimmerman, who has said he killed the 17-year-old Martin in self-defense, was not arrested after being questioned by police the night of the shooting. He was charged weeks later with second-degree murder.

Earlier Monday, the city announced in a statement that a separation agreement had been reached with Lee to resign. If it was approved by the City Commission, it would have taken effect at midnight.

And that the only reason he was charged was because of political pressure which came directly from our first foreign born Islamic Marxist mulatto POTUS.

Are you calling her a liar?

If daug won't I will.

Bending the Rule of Law for political reasons is b.s.

The very nature of Inalienable Rights is that they're nonnegotiable.

Not to mention Zimmerman and his family are having their lives threatened on a daly basis AND the government has disarmed him. In essense infringed on his 2nd Amendment Constitutional right when he needs it most. Can you imagine the phone calls, the mail this guy has been getting? And to top it off, the POTUS took sides against him! This guy must feel like the whole world wants to kill him.

Maybe he’s innocent, but why should he be paid just for being innocent?

Violation of US Code, Section 242 Deprivation of rights Under color of law, which includes Right to Keep an bear arms [since his 'probation' means he cant keep his carry permit], violation of due process and/or false arrest [since he was released, he proved it was self defense and should never been arrested], violation to his right to a grand jury [who would have no-billed him and dropped the whole thing], ...that's just the city.

Then there's libel and slander, for all the network editing, and selective photography, making him look like he ran around murdering innocent children...

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of for now. :-)

You are not going to shoot this weapon by accident, it fires double action only and has the longest trigger pull I have ever seen.

Good on the city council. It’s pretty clear the police chief and the Sanford PD did the right thing in not charging Zimmerman.

The Martin shooting was self-defence, supported by the evidence and the case was handled correctly.

Then some political race-baiter got involved and now Zimmerman must wear a kevlar vest and watch his every move. All while spending God only knows how much on attorneys defending himself against this political 2nd degree murder charge.

Pathological liar, because she believes it was not the case of political pressure.

I don’t own a television. I do have 18 years’ experience as a paralegal (NYC, mostly). Real life isn’t like the law books, either.

Since to post about Chief Lee’s resignation is in breaking news, shouldn’t this post be in breaking news?

I am so thankful that there are people willing to stand up, and tell Je$$e and the Rev. Al to STFU.

Float this rumor: anyone rioting (or group of rioters) as a result of the George Zimmerman case outcome will be summarily executed on the spot. Any of Holder's LEO thugs who don't like it will be summarily executed on the spot. If Holder, Jackson, Sharpton, Farrakhan come to incite rioting, they will be summarily executed on the spot.

KelTec’s got a looooong trigger pull.

So if A was holding it and B was jerking it towards himself, a few inches of jerk wouldn't be enough to do the job?

If your finger was on the trigger.

If it was you should already be squeezing and not need an outside influence.

I'm sure that in what would have amounted to a matter of seconds between Martin seeing the gun, Zimmerman realizing it, and both grabbing for it, there may not have been much opportunity for more than an accidental discharge.
