Free Speech: The former speaker, echoing the president, says the Supreme Court got it wrong in ruling we have the right to pool our money for purposes of political speech.
Leave it to Nancy Pelosi, who said we had to pass ObamaCare in order to find out what's in it, to suggest that a document we had well over two centuries to read was misinterpreted by the court in its Citizens United decision wherein it held that corporations and unions can spend unlimited amounts on political advocacy as long as they do not coordinate with candidates or campaigns.
Pelosi, at a press briefing last Thursday, endorsed a movement announced by other congressional Democrats the day before to ratify an amendment to the Constitution to allow Congress to regulate political speech when it is engaged in by corporations as opposed to individuals.
"Our Founders had an idea. It was called democracy. It said elections are determined by the people, the voice and the vote of the people, not by the bankrolls of the privileged few. This Supreme Court decision flies in the face of our Founders' vision, and we want to reverse it," Pelosi said even as the ObamaCare she shepherded threatens to shred both the First and Tenth Amendments.
We have not heard Ms. Pelosi speak out against President Obama's illegal by unconstitutional recess appointments or his decisions to ignore both Congress and the courts' right to govern any regulation. Pelosi had no problem when a document that begins, "We the people" was trumped by a bill crafted behind closed doors that reads, "the secretary shall determine ..."

We all know that whenever Nancy rises to speak she’s representing the wine cellar that keeps her restaurants stocked.
Lord knows corporations are subject to laws made by the Congress. They are subject to taxation. I guess they are just supposed to shut up and accept whatever people like Pelosi want to impose on them.

After the flag burning decision, there had been a movement to protect the flag via Constitutional Amendment. A lot in the MSM and on the left made a big deal out of the idea that this would be putting a restriction on the First Amendment. I’ll bet Nancy was one of those. What’s different now?

Actually, I kind of like the idea, IF and only IF...
It also requires similar regulation of speech by unions, "public interest groups" financed by funds from sources like Soros, and laundered by labyrinthine other organizations.
It also requires similar regulation of speech by Acorn, in however many different new names it morphs now and in the future.
It also requires similar regulation of speech by fake "grassroots" community organizations funded by tax dollars in any form, and from any route it takes from the taxpayer to the socialists.
AND, most importantly... real and swift substantial penalties for violators, even if they happen to be "holder's people."
Do you have a link or the name of the Court in question and a document reference number to back that up?
Corporations shouldn't have a voice in the government that is responsible for their regulation?
When the federal government holds life & death power over a corporation, they have every right to involves themselves in the electoral process.
Take away the government's power to regulate business on anything but the most basic level...and I might agree with you. But, with the regulatory climate being what it is, corporations could not successfullly exist with a.) free speech rights and b.) lobbyists.
to Pelosi... We don’t have a Democracy. We have a Representative Republic. SCOTUS ruled correctly in the Citizens United case. Deal with it.

Shouldn't there be some kind of requirement for politicians to have even a rudimentary knowledge of history, politics, and the Constitution and what the Founding Fathers had to say about the form of government they gave us?
