I think he’s wearing an African elephant hair ring in gold, it just happens to be on the ring finger of his left hand...there are Kenya websites that quote members of the Kogele clan saying he was in Kenya shortly after the funeral of the old man.
Maybe he came back from Kenya with it on his finger? That would have been either late 1982 or early 1983.
