The Two Week protest is neither here nor there with regard to Rick Santorum's run for the nomination. The USCCB doesn't endorse political candidates.

The Bishops have been talking about this issue, non-stop, since early March, but it takes a while to get something like this two week protest set up, if they want it to be country wide. I'm sure they didn't just think this up last week.

Yes, I understand that, but when you’re holding a protest of Obama’s mandate (in an election year), you are in effect saying not to vote for him without coming right out and saying so. But we don’t currently have anyone left that is a strong Catholic to vote *for*, as Rick has suspended. So it would have been great if they came out with this when a strong Catholic was running, no? Then at least the protests would bear fruit. Of course, it’s true that the mandate could be pulled (because of the protests), but we’re still left with either Obama or Romney. Ugh!
